Local Attractions

Torquay
Torquay's origins as a holiday resort date back to Victorian times when it was a fashionable destination for the English aristocracy. Today the legacy remains with clean white villas, beautiful gardens and elegant buildings. Its elegant Victorian terraces, white villas and famous seven hills provide the backdrop to popular modern facilities and a busy shopping centre.

Torquay's waterfront is the focus of life in the town. Here you'll find the palm-lined promenade, seafront gardens, a lively harbour and an International marina. Yet within minutes of the town centre there are beautiful beaches easily accessible by foot, road or water. There is an abundance of pavement cafes, pubs, restaurants and nightlife, good quality shops and a host of family attractions

Along the 22 miles of the English Riviera are 19 beaches and coves. Some, in the town centres are wide, open stretches of sand with beach facilities, such as cafes, beach huts and watersports. Many are smaller and more secluded. Several of our beaches hold coveted awards for cleanliness and water quality.Stretching from the South side of Brixham to Maidencombe, the coast path around the Bay offers excellent and varied walking, with circular walks or point-to-point, with spectacular sea views, and an exotic range of flora and fauna.

Location

Directons:

On reaching Torquay head for the sea front. As you come into Torquay, you will pass an industrial estate on your left, You will go past a turning to Sainsbury's, then as you come to the next set of lights you will see McDonalds and Devere Motor Company. Stay in the left hand lane and continue along this main road. When you come to Torre Station a few hundred yards from McDonalds, move over into the right hand lane and follow the signs for the sea front. Once you have reached the sea front (stay in the left hand lane) turn left onto the main sea front road. At the next set of lights turn left (you will see the Belgrave Hotel on the corner). This is now Belgrave Road, go to the next set of lights and we are on the left hand side.
