The Farm was built in 1843 and was once part of the Sledmere estate. It is a mixed working farm which sits peacefully in its own surroundings at the west end of Thixendale, a quiet unspoilt isolated Wolds village.
Bed and Breakfast Description
The Farm is so pristine it could pass for a film set whereas it is in fact a thriving working farm. Gilda and Charles have dedicated so much time to their garden over the past fourteen years it features in the National PICS Garden Scheme (or yellow book), and is open to the public on the second Sunday in July every year. More active guests are welcome to use the grass tennis court - rackets and balls can be provided, and croquet can be played on the lawn. Children may like to help bottle feed lambs at lambing time in April, feed the chickens and geese, and above all make friends with our 3 wonderful sheepdogs Whip, Tess and Fly, who all roam about freely!



Local Attractions
You could join one of the classes and try your hand at upholstery - details are available from the owners. The area is always popular with walkers and hikers and Gilda can arrange for a packed lunch for you before you set off. Keen plantsmen and women will find a lot of unusual and garden worthy plants in the acre of garden. There are new projects going on all the time.There are several splendid private gardens in the area which Gilda could arrange for you to visit, as well as many well known beautiful gardens already open to the public.

Thixendale is a tiny village nestled in a valley in the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds. We are about 10 miles south of Malton, 10 miles north of Pocklington and 20 miles east of York.

From North or South, take the A1 to York. From here go east on the A166 towards Bridlington. At Fridaythorpe, turn left onto a smaller road (Thixendale Road) with signs to Thixendale.
