Description

Caroline and Jeffrey Bowden offer charming accommodation where you can enjoy a period atmosphere and delicious food in an historical setting in the heart of Suffolk.

The house oozes history with tales of secret passages and priest holes. Some of the previous owners had a bloodthirsty past with links to Thomas a Beckett. Ask the current owners to tell you the stories.

The food is a highlight of staying here; Caroline and Jeffrey are accomplished cooks who believe that using the finest ingredients is the key to culinary excellence. Organic vegetables, fruit, eggs, game and beef are all sourced from their own land.

Local Attractions

Suffolk is an unspoilt county which was the inspiration of artists Thomas Gainsborough and John Constable. It is famed for its villages and towns of timber framed buildings and magnificent churches, such as Lavenham, Long Melford and Bury St Edmunds.

There is the heritage coast with its attractive towns such as Southwold. The world famous horse racing town of Newmarket home of the National Stud. Not forgetting the well known Aldeburgh Festival. All within easy reach of the village which is in the centre of Suffolk.
