Nestling in the beautiful Wiltshire Downs, just 7 miles from the beautiful cathedral city of Salisbury lies this pretty farmhouse.

Bed and Breakfast Description

This stunning farmhouse B an B, has been awarded Five Diamonds for quality and a Gold Award for Excellence, by the English Tourism Council.

The Farmhouse is a grand and elegant example of Victorian Gothic architecture with crenellations, lancet windows and a turreted entrance hall. It is a working tenanted dairy and arable farm owned by the Earl of Pembroke and situated 7 miles from Salisbury in the beautiful Wiltshire downs.

It stands in its own grounds with a large pleasant garden which guests are invited to relax in. The Victorian theme is continued in the decor with damask curtains and fine period furniture.

The farm is 568 hectares and is in the renowned Wylye Valley. We have a herd of 200 pedigree Holstein Friesian cows plus young stock and we grow wheat, barley and maize. We offer you the freedom of our farm where you can enjoy watching the cows being milked, the calves fed or seasonal activities on the farm.

Some of the land is in an Environmentally Sensitive Area and is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest because of the wild flowers and butterflies. The views from the chalk downs are breathtaking. Our meadows border the lakes owned by Wiltshire Wildlife and offer a wonderful opportunity for bird watching. Guests are welcome to walk and can be given a map with suggested routes.

Local Attractions

The farmhouse is an ideal location from which to explore many of the delightful towns, cities and attractions of Wiltshire and the South and South West of England.

There are many places nearby that are worthy of a visit. We have 2 beautiful cathedral cities within easy reach. Salisbury, just 7 miles away, home to the tallest cathedral spire in the UK, and Bath - a World Heritage site with beautiful countryside surrounding its unique mixture of architecture.

B&B Location

From the M4 exit at Chieveley, near Newbury take the A34 south as far as the junction with the A303.

Turn west onto the dual carriageway and bypass Andover and Amesbury.

After 1.5 miles you will pass Stonehenge on your right.

Just after this you reach an interchange as you reach the River Wylye. Follow signs carefully here and take a left turn onto a small road to Wylye.

Go through the village, turning off before the road goes under the railway bridge. Follow this lane down the side of the river for about two miles until you reach the farmhouse.
