Bed and Breakfast Description

 

The house stands at the centre of its own garden amid rolling Cornish country. It is very much a family home and Anthony and Alison's three children use it as base in university holidays.

The lane to the house leads between fields to the front gate where the drive up to the house continues through the garden to an area beside the house with ample parking for guests' cars.

The garden here, which is occasionally open to the public, is Alison's first love. She has restored it meticulously over the last twenty years. It contains many rare and interesting plants and shrubs, mature trees and typically Cornish camellias and rhododendrons.

 

Truro Attractions

 
The BnB is 500 yards from the exact centre of Cornwall! It is therefore an ideal base for exploring all that Cornwall has to offer. Everything from the Tate at St. Ives and Land's End in the West to the houses and gardens on the Devon border in the East is within an hour's drive. The great gardens of Caerhays, Heligan, Trewithen and the Eden Project are all within 5 miles and Bosvigo, Trelissick, Trebah and Glendurgan are nearby. It is even possible to make a day-trip to the Isles of Scilly by helicopter from Penzance.
 

B&B Location
 
At Exeter, take the A30 via Okehampton. You will bypass Okehampton, Launceston and Bodmin. Shortly after Bodmin at a large roundabout called Innis Downs, follow signs to Truro and Redruth. Watch for the exit left, signed, amongst other places, Grampound Road. A McDonald's sign is visible on the right hand side of the dual carriageway. Avoiding the temptation to call there, follow the signs to Grampound Road, going straight over a crossroads in the process, for about 4 miles. Go though Grampound Road, and after about half a mile, you will come to another crossroads. This is the A390 Liskeard to Truro road. Turn right towards Truro and you will see immediately, on the right hand side, the back of large roadsign and four black and white reflector posts just where the central double white lines end. Turn between these posts into a sunken lane. The house is 300 yards down this lane, straight though white gates.
