Bed and Breakfast Description

 

The House was rebuilt after the great fire of Wareham in 1762, on the foundations of a 13th Century house where the local goldsmith lived, hence the name.

The present Georgian house with its lovely walled garden lends itself to accommodate six guests in double or twin-bedded rooms with private bathrooms and a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere, with all facilities on hand at your request.

The owners, Anthea and Michael, have been looking after guests for more than twenty years. Their aim is to maintain a high standard of hospitality and service and look forward to welcoming you to their House.

 

Wareham Attractions

 
Dorchester, known by the Romans as Durnovaria, which has an excellent museum, ancient monuments such as Maiden Castle and a variety of National Trust Houses to visit.

Weymouth Bay and the Isle of Portland are only 8 miles south and offer excellent beaches, a wide range of watersports, walking, rock climbing and birdwatching.

Durdle Door Arch, probably the most photographed view along the Dorset coast and one of the wonders of the British coastline, this beach is a narrow strand of mixed shingle, gravel and sand.

Monkey World was set up in 1987 by Jim and Alison Cronin to provide abused Spanish beach chimps with a permanent, stable home. There are currently 56 chimpanzees at Monkey World, which makes it the largest group outside Africa.

Bovington Tank Museum - 2 miles.

Athelhampton House - 5 miles

Maiden Castle - 2 miles - the largest Iron Age hill fort in Europe.

Weymouth - 4 miles. Attractive seaside town with safe sandy family beach.

Find your way to the A35 from Poole or Dorchester and turn off onto the A351 to Wareham.

Follow the signs into the town centre on the B3075.

Cross over from North Street into South Street, and turn left before the river into St John's Hill. The BnB is on the far side of the square in front of you.
