Medieval wall paintings, vaulted ceilings and exposed close oak studwork remind you that 700 years have quietly passed by leaving Lavenham Priory's magical ambience untouched. And yet contemporary luxuries have been perfectly attended to.
The Priory Suite, Great Chamber, Painted Chamber, Gallery Chamber and Merchants Chamber are dreamy bedrooms full of character, with either restful garden views or glimpses of the timber framed houses for which Lavenham is famous.
Four posters and a large lit bateau are masterpieces of architectural achievement, with pocket sprung mattresses so comfortable guests have even purchased them for themselves! Indulgent bathrooms feature cast iron slipper baths and invigorating showers with pampering toiletries, deep towels and waffle cotton bathrobes.
The breakfast is as big and as breathtaking as the bedrooms and bathrooms. Sausages, fruit compotes, yoghurts, cereals, freshly pressed juice, Manx kippers, smoked haddock, smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, croissants, three types of bread with preserves. After that, you may not want to move for 700 years either. Stroll endlessly in the rambling grounds of a formal courtyard herb garden, walnut orchard, natural pond, native tree copses and a wildflower meadow.
