Bed and Breakfast Description

Providing comfortable B&B accommodation from £30 per person per night depending on the season, Avenue House is also ideally situated for exploring Weymouth's picturesque 17th century harbour, taking in the many varied attractions or enjoying the glorious sandy beach. Weymouth truly has something for everyone, history, art, culture, entertainment and some magnificent bars and restaurants. When night falls the town comes to life once more, so whether you are enjoying a delicious meal whilst soaking up Weymouth's harbour atmosphere or having fun watching the Sea Festival, Carnival and Show Night, you'll certainly be glad you came.

Weymouth and Portland are proud to be the home to the Sailing Olympics 2012. Avenue House is taking bookings for Olympic competitors training in Weymouth and Portland during their Olympic preparation and for spectators of the Olympics 2012, who wish to ensure they are at the heart of the event. Weymouth is an all year round resort for sport and leisure. There is easy access to the ferry, for trips to the Channel Islands or France, and Weymouth is also an ideal base for planning day trips around Dorset.

Weymouth Attractions

Weymouth has a variety of different attractions and stunning events to visit, here are just a few of our recommendations. Turn right from Avenue House and within a short stroll you will arrive at Brewers Quay and the waterfront. Within a short distance of Brewers Quay is one of Weymouth's best kept secrets, the attractive Nothe Gardens and Nothe Fort. Also nearby is the award-winning sea protection scheme at Newtons Cove and within a few paces you will arrive at the old harbour with its many diving, fishing and tour boats.

Crossing the town bridge you enter the town centre and the seafront, with its stunning sandy beach, perfect for safe bathing and swiming. At one end of the sea front is the Pavilion Theatre and Ballroom, featuring top entertainment for all tastes. Next to the Pavilion is the Ferry terminal, with trips to the Channel Islands and beyond. At the opposite end of the sea front you can find the Sea Life Centre, tennis courts and a bowling green. Weymouth also has a friendly golf club.

Turn left from Avenue House and a five minute walk brings you to the Rodwell Trail. This is the old railway line between Weymouth and Portland, now a picturesque 2 1/4 mile walk/cycle path. The island of Portland is about 3 1/2 miles away and has a fascinating history. Situated on the Chesil beach is the Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy, home to the 2012 Sailing Olympics. A few miles away in the opposite direction, but also joined to the Chesil beach, is the pretty thatched village of Abbotsbury. Here you will find craft shops, tea rooms, and the popular Swannery. Dorset has now become famous for the Jurassic Coast, the world's first natural heritage site.

B&B Location

When you reach Weymouth, simply follow the signs A354 to Portland. Look for the Fire-Station by the Harbour Roundabout and proceed up the hill, straight across the mini-roundabout, and at the next set of traffic lights turn left into Rodwell Avenue. We are the third house, on the right hand side of the road.
