Bed and Breakfast Description

Winifred's Rest is a beautiful stone house where the old meets the new. The house is 1890s and has been refurbished to exceptional standards.

We have just moved to the village and testify to the wonderful hospitality of the locals. Our family hail from South-east Asia and guests have the option of dining in a comfortable atmosphere where the cuisine is just that little bit more exotic.

Of our three letting rooms, two are ensuite. Guests in the twin room have a bathroom on the same floor to themselves. Every guest is treated to our Subhani range of toiletries as well as a well stocked beverage station which includes Scottish shortbread and hot chocolate.

Your comfort is important to us. Each room is equipped with a tv, electric blanket and fan heater. Guests are welcome to use the lounge where there is a wall-mounted 42 inch tv, a dvd-player and a library that carries travel gems and pockets of humour.

The outdoor enthusiast may find the boot tray in the cupboard useful after the day's events. Our garage is left empty so you can park your bicycles and other bulky sport equipment.

Betws-y Coed Attractions

Across the road is Trefriw Woollen Mill, owned and run by siblings Elaine and Morgan. I've been in the shop several times to pick up gifts for loved ones living continents away. I love the look and feel of woollen products. The colours, needless to say, are very enticing. Maybe I have a bit of magpie in me.

Somewhere above this quaint little village that stopped time at its borders, is Llanrhychywn church, parts of which date back to the 11th Century. It's links with Llewelyn can be found in several write ups on the internet.

The Conwy River is aflow with history. Archeological expeditions in the area unearthed evidence of habitation dating from the Stone Age. The river used to be an important means of transport in the days gone by. It's now popular with salmon and trout fishers. Although no longer a busy waterway, the river continues to course from its sources in the Migneint moor and into the sea, its beauty undiminished.

For cyclists, the Gwydyr Marin Cycling Trail is very popular and friends of mine who've been on it highly recommend it.

Trefriw is renowned for its Trails by the same name. I have been on a few and the scenery is out of this world. The lakes that nestle coyly in the hills above are Crafnant and Gerionydd. Not far away is the enchanted mountain range, Cadair Idris, and the lovely Llyn Cau.

There is a magic in this part of the world I haven't found anywhere else. And people think it only exists in movies.
