Our BNB is a local building of historic interest. We accept payment in cash. Our establishment is fitted with central heating throughout. Hairdryers are available in rooms or on request. Internet access available in rooms or residents lounge. We're sorry, we do not accept pets.

Rosemary and Peter Welham would like to welcome you to Lavender Cottage.

Set in a quiet close, the thatched cottage is Grade II listed and has been lovingly restored from a former 17th century farmhouse and small barn. Our home has many period features and is decorated to a high standard.

Lavender Cottage is located in the attractive conservation area of Old Kidlington and provides an idyllic base for business or leisure in the Oxfordshire area.

Our charming guest bedrooms are appointed to five star quality with flat screen ‘Freeview' TV, free high-speed internet and a well-stocked beverage tray. We have a double room with king size bed and en-suite shower and a twin-bedded room with luxury private bathroom.

Delicious breakfasts are served in the spacious dining room. We use organic produce, where possible, and we source from local suppliers as much as we can.

Lavender Cottage is a non-smoking establishment that offers high quality service and excellent hospitality. We are close to the popular tourist destinations of Blenheim Palace (Woodstock) and Oxford. The Cotswolds are nearby and the proximity of the M40 motorway makes it an ideal base for day trips to London or Stratford-upon-Avon.

Excellent shopping is near-by in Oxford and at the 'Bicester Village' designer outlet.

Parking is free and available directly outside.

Shops and pubs are within a few minutes walk and there is a frequent bus service into Oxford from just around the corner.

 

Kidlington Attractions

 
The Oxfordshire Cotswolds are a delight, offering the visitor excellent walking through a countryside of honey-coloured limestone villages, cottage gardens and rich russet-coloured fields hemmed with their drystone walls.

Chipping Norton, a wonderful old wool town with its fine fifteenth century church and handsome stone buildings is a great centre from which to explore the area. Burford is also an excellent holiday centre, rich in fine buildings indicating its prosperity as a wool town, it boasts a magnificent church and a picturesque medieval bridge across the Windrush.

Further south is the Cotswold Wildlife Park, 120 acres of gardens surrounding a Gothic style manor house with a variety of animals and wildlife in spacious enclosures, including white rhinos and tigers. Nearby is Minster Lovell, one of this county’s prettiest villages, a long cottage lined street with Minster Lovell Hall, a quite fascinating medieval fortified manor house, a ruin steeped in legend.

Banbury, in the north of the county, is an interesting centre renowned for its cross, which was destroyed by Puritans in 1602, later to be replaced by the Victorians. The town is famous also for its mouth-watering Banbury cakes, made to a 350 year old recipe. To the south is the town of Bicester, an ancient town of Roman origin and a noted hunting centre, with some extremely attractive buildings in Market End and Sheep Street.

From the North:
Leave the M40 at junction 9 and take the 3rd exit off the roundabout onto the A34 heading towards Oxford/Newbury. After 4 miles take the exit to Kidlington.

After ½ mile take the 1st exit off the roundabout onto the Bicester Road and turn right after the lights to remain on the Bicester Road. Take the 2nd right onto Evans Lane and bear left at the end when it becomes Mill Street.

After ½ mile turn right at the crossroads into Church Street and 1st right into Franklin Close.

From the South (Oxford):
Take the Banbury Road north from Oxford city or the ring road. Keep on the Banbury Road through Kidlington (Sainsbury’s on your right) for about a mile until you see a large council building on the left called Exeter House and signs for the High Street, at this set of traffic lights get in the right hand lane and turn right into Sterling Road.

Follow this road which becomes the High Street, pass the shops and drive down to a cross-roads, go straight ahead into Church Street. * Franklin Close is the first right turn. The house is part-thatched on the right and there is parking outside.
