Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Complyns Bed and Breakfast is a detached 17th century listed former farm house with a large country garden and orchard, which guests are more than welcome to use. The Hamlet of Chilcomb nestles in the valley of the South Downs off the A31 east of Winchester, which is only 5 minutes away with the popular South Downs walk to Eastbourne passing right by the front gate.

We have been running our friendly, happy and successful B&B for over fifteen years with many returning visitors from far and wide. We offer a quality, comfortable home and endeavour to make your stay a happy and memorable one.

Double or Twin Bedroom available for £58 per room per night including a delicious English breakfast. Local produce is always used when available.

Both rooms are quality furnished and comfortable, with stunning views over our beautiful gardens and the open countryside. There is a spacious bathroom for guests located between each room. A tea & coffee tray, hair dryer, iron and extra bedding are available if required.

A selection of Tourism brochures, books and maps are available. There is a boiler room for drying off walking and/or cycling gear, and a shed to lock up bicycles overnight.

Our home is a smoke free one.

 

Winchester Attractions

 
Alresford is an attractive small Georgian town worth visiting, for walks, good food and shopping. It is the home of the Midhants Railway Watercress Line, and is very popular for its pubs and walks. Stop off at Caracoli for lunch or afternoon tea!

Avington Trout Fishery, about 3-4 miles away, is one of the oldest stillwater trout fisheries in the country, famous for its clear water stalking and the big fish it produces. Also situated across from the fishery is Avington Park, used mainly for Weddings, but also for corporate functions and as a film location.

If you are a fan of Jane Austen, you can visit her home in the village of Chawton, and her resting place in Winchester. Her tomb can be found in the North Aisle of the Winchester Cathedral.

Broadlands, the home of the Late Lord Mountbatten is in nearby Romsey. In this area you can also find Sir Harold Hilliers Gardens, and Mottisfont Abbey.

The Port of Southampton is very nearby for those heading off or returning from a luxury cruise. New Forest a great day out, including Beaulieu, Exbury Gardens, Lymington for sailing and Ferry to the Isle of Wight, amongst many other popular attractions.

Portsmouth Historic Dockyard with Victory the Warrior and Mary Rose. Gun Wharf Quays is a popular shopping and eating destination on the waters edge. The D-Day Museum, birthplace of Charles Dickens and the Blue Reef Aquarium are also worth a visit. The Spinnaker Tower is now open with lifts to the top for far reaching views.

Exit onto Slip Road (M3 J9). At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Spitfire Link A272. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Petersfield Road A31. Turn right into Chilcomb 0.6 miles. Bear left, then left again and you will see up ahead a BT Phone box on the left hand side and Complyns is the detached house with a gravel drive next door.
