Bed and Breakfast Description

 

The Black Horse is set in attractive and pleasant gardens. We pride ourselves on looking after our customers and have gained a reputation of offering excellent fresh food and Traditional Ales in a friendly and welcoming environment. You may choose from an extensive range of hot and cold meals in our bar or restaurant. If notified in advance, we will be happy to cater for any special dietary requests.

All rooms have their own private entrance accessed from the garden. They are attractively furnished with en suite shower facilities. Each room features: Colour TV with Teletext, Radio Alarm Clock, Tea & Coffee making facilities, Fridge, Hairdryer and Trouser Press. Iron and Ironing board are available on request.

 

Shefford Attractions

 
We have easy access to many National Trust and English Heritage sites such as Woburn Abbey, Woburn Safari Park and Hatfield House.

The Shuttleworth Collection, housed at nearby Old Warden, is unique. It is the world's only exhibition of flying historic aircraft dating from 1909 up to World War II and just beyond.

Nearby is the Swiss Garden, a beautiful example of an early 19th century garden that combines ornamental gardens with picturesque architecture.

There are many golf courses in the area, ranging from John O'Gaunt in nearby Biggleswade, Beadlow Manor, Millbrook and the championship course of Woburn is only a short drive away.

The historical town of Cambridge is within 30 minutes drive from The Black Horse, as is Milton Keynes, renowed for its indoor shopping centre, Theatre, National Hockey Stadium and for the largest indoor ski centre in Great Britain.

From the East:
Exit off the A1 motorway at Junction 10. Follow the A507 Shefford, then the A600 to Bedford. The next roundabout turn right to Old Warden/Southill. Turn immediately left signposted for Ireland.
Approx. 12 minutes.

From the South:
Exit off the M1 at Junction 12. Follow the A5120 through to Flitwick. Turn onto the A507 by Redbourne School. Follow signs for A1, Shefford (crossing the A6). Turn left onto the A600 to Bedford. Then as above.
Approx.15 minutes.

From the North:
Exit the M1 at Junction 13. Follow the A507 to Shefford. Then as above.
Approx. 15 minutes.
