Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Irene and Bob Bellerby extend a warm and friendly welcome to all guests at their popular 4 Star Bed and Breakfast accommodation. Primrose Cottage has been awarded Four Star Bed and Breakfast rating by the Enjoy England scheme and provides a home from home for all our guests.

Accommodation is arranged over two floors with the extra facility of the Conservatory Dining Room and Lounge being available for the use of our guests. Complimentary tea and cakes on arrival are served around the original cottage well. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with ensuite facilities, The rooms are presented and maintained to a high standard with digital TV, generous hospitality tray and hairdryer. Iron and ironing board available on request. Drying Room/Boot Room available.

 

Berwick-upon-Tweed Attractions

 
We are perfectly situated for Holy Island, bamburgh Castle, the Scottish Borders and Cheviot Hills. There are many other places of interest nearby including: Alnwick Castle & Gardens, Berwick on Tweed, Seahouses (The Farne Isles), Budle Bay, St Abbs and Ford & Etal.

Holy Island (Lindisfarne) - Approximately 10 mins Drive, Drive across the dramatic causeway (tidal), a place of pilgrimage for 1,200 years, founded in A.D.635 by St. Aiden. The monastry owes its fame to St. Cuthbert, the greated Northumbrian holy man.

St. Cuthberts Way - Approximately 60 miles, A walk used by St. Cuthbert in his early days from Melrose to Holy Island.

Berwick on Tweed - Approximately 10 mins Drive, A town drenched in bloody history and the gateway to the North. A walk around the ramparts of the town takes in the coast, the river and some wonderful architecture.

Bamburgh Castle - Approximately 15 mins Drive, Once the home to the kings of Northumbria, this magestic castle overlooks vast sandy beaches and the island of Lindisfarne and the Farne Isles. There is also a newly opened Museum dedicated to Grace Darling.

Seahouses & The Farne Isles - Approximately 20 mins Drive, Small seaside town, famous for Fish & Chips. In the harbour you can catch a boat to the Farne Isles, famous for bords and seals.

Alnwick Castle & Gardens - Approximately 25 mins Drive, Home of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland (knows as the Windsor of the North) this medieval fortress is famous for its gardens and for being featured in the Harry Potter films.
