Llandudno Attractions

Llandudno is a seaside resort and town on the North Wales coast between Conwy and Colwyn Bay. Llandudno was specifically built as a mid-Victorian era holiday destination, and is served by a branch railway line opened in 1858 from Llandudno Junction with stations at Deganwy and Llandudno. Llandudno, the Queen of Welsh resorts, is now the largest seaside resort in Wales, and lies on a flat land between the Welsh mainland and the Great Orme peninsula. Llandudno, which lies in Conwy County Borough, was formerly in the district of Aberconwy within Gwynedd, and prior to 1974 was in Caernarfonshire.

Snowdonia (Welsh “Eryri”) is a region of North Wales, and a national park of 838 square miles (2,170 km ²) in area. It was the first to be designated of the three National Parks in Wales in 1951. The English name for the area derives from Snowdon, which is the highest mountain in Wales at 1085 metres (3,560 feet). In Welsh, the area is named Eryri. It is a common assumption that this is derived from eryr ("eagle"), but in fact it means quite simply Highlands.

Conwy (formerly anglicised as Conway) is a town in Conwy county borough in North Wales, which faces Deganwy across the River Conwy. The town lies in the ancient county of Caernarfonshire. Conwy Castle and the town walls were built on the instructions of Edward I between 1283 and 1289, as part of his conquest of the principality of Wales. Conwy was the original site of Aberconwy Abbey. Founded by Llywelyn the Great, Edward and his troops took over the abbey site and moved the monks down the Conwy valley to a new site at Maenan. The parish church still retains some parts of the original abbey church in the east and west walls.
