Bed and Breakfast Description

Our accommodation is all on the ground floor. It is well heated and each room has its own TV, hospitality tray and en-suite bath or shower room. Individual front doors allow freedom of access, without disturbing other guests, so late arrivals are no problem! There is ample parking in the attractive well-lit courtyard.

In the cosy Stables, we have two double bedrooms, Poppy Fields and Forest Glade, and a twin-bedded room, Spring Meadow. All three stable rooms have shower rooms. Forest Glade has been totally re-designed to create a larger room with attractive en-suite.

The bedrooms in the Haybarn are slightly larger. Blue Lagoon is versatile and very popular, having a double bed and bunks. It is suitable for families, small groups or people with disabilities. A Swedish-style en-suite shower with seat and grab rails, provides extra comfort and safety for wheel-chair users.

Welsh Mountain is a two-bedroomed family suite, one room with a double bed...and the children’s ‘Little Log Cabin’ with a divan and bunks. The suite has an en-suite bathroom. Pink Sunset is a twin room with an en-suite bathroom (with hand-held shower over bath).

Snowy Peaks is our beautiful honeymoon room with a four poster bed, though you don’t have to be on your honeymoon to pamper yourself with a little extra luxury! This room has an en-suite bathroom (with hand-held shower over bath).

Blaenau Ffestiniog Attractions

Three miles north of the village, at Tomen y Mur, Roman remains can be seen. The Romans gave the village its name, which means ‘across the mountains’.

Trawsfynydd has been an important resting place for travellers since the Bronze Age when, due to its proximity to the ancient trading route, travellers to and from Ireland came en-route to Wiltshire which, in those days, was the cultural centre of Britain. The many cairns, megaliths, roundhouses and hut enclosures in the area provide evidence of prehistoric settlements.

Fron Oleu is an ideal base from which to discover the many and varied attractions of the area. In every direction scenic drives will bring you to mountains, lakes, rivers and forests.

Safe, sandy beaches are just twenty minutes drive from here. A pleasant walk through the Coed y Brenin forest will bring you to the interesting site of the old Gwynfynydd gold mine and two impressive water falls.

For serious walkers, we are situated close to the foot of the Rhinog mountains. The Cader range and Snowdon are all within easy reach. For the less ambitious, there are many pleasant walks, such as those around the Trawsfynydd lake or through the Coed y Brenin forest. The Torrent Walk and the Precipice walks at Dolgellau are well worth the effort and there are many oak woods nearby which provide excellent shorter walks.

For mountain bike enthusiasts, the new Trawsfynydd lake bike trail passes alongside the farm and we are close to the famous Coed y Brenin forest trails. We have safe storage for bikes and can provide black plastic bags and newspaper for the wet and muddy who return after risking life and limb on some of the tougher trails!
