Bed and Breakfast Description

Mike & Jan Bertenshaw offer you a warm welcome to Crafnant Guest House, which takes its name from one of the beautiful lakes which nestle in the wooded valleys just above. Whilst there are unlimited areas of scenic beauty to be explored, and numerous activities to be enjoyed, many visitors find plenty of time to simply wind down and relax. We endeavour to provide an informal and relaxing atmosphere where you can fully appreciate the picturesque setting of Trefriw and its surrounding countryside. There are a number of places in and around the village which serve excellent food including two traditional village pubs only a stroll away. The Guest House is appointed to a high standard and retains many of its original features, charm and elegance.

Most bedrooms are fully en-suite and are appointed with your comfort in mind. All have: Hand crafted iron beds with fresh white linen; Colour TV; Tea & Coffee facilities and Gas Central heating. WiFi in all rooms - most of the time - but can't be guaranteed! There are two lounges - a small lounge on the ground floor which houses a varied collection of books to suit most interests. A further larger lounge on the first floor where guests can relax in comfort and enjoy a board game or puzzle.

In May 2008 we won a sustainable tourism award - and with our prize money we have bought some hens - which are being looked after by our friend Sue who has a small holding in the hills above Trefriw. We can therefore boast extremely fresh free range eggs - to compliment the excellent bacon and home made sausages from our local butcher. A full traditional breakfast at Crafnant may mean you have no room for lunch!

Trefriw Attractions

Trefriw village lies in the beautiful Conwy valley and nestles at the foot of thickly wooded valleys which form the backdrop to the village and ascend to give spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and mountain ranges. Numerous streams tumble down the hillsides, fed from the three mountain lakes (less than 3 miles) which are situated in the valleys just above the village, which is why Trefriw is sometimes known as the "Gateway to the Lakes". Visitors to the lakes can enjoy a spot of fishing, hire a rowing boat, or just stroll along the shore and enjoy breathtaking scenery. Many people choose Trefriw as their destination as they appreciate its unspoilt charm and peaceful, relaxing setting away from the hustle and bustle of traffic and crowds - yet within easy reach of the busier resorts.

Alternatively, from the A55 (North Wales and Conwy) turn left on the A470 (signposted to Betws-y-Coed) and follow to Tal-y-Cafn where you turn right. At the T-junction turn left onto the B5106.
