Ollerton is a village with a history stretching back to the Domesday Book of 1086. It is set at the heart of some of Nottinghamshire's most picturesque countryside, including the 450-acre Sherwood Forest Country Park, home of the legendary Robin Hood and designated a ‘Site of National Scientific Interest’.
Essentially an English hero, whose name brings visitors from all over the world, Robin Hood is celebrated throughout the whole area, with nearby Edwinstowe being famous as 'Robin Hood's village'. Sherwood Forest has always played an important part in shaping the culture and lives of people in Ollerton and the surrounding villages.
The vicarage is situated next to a disused railway line that used to take coal from the mines and now offers a unique hiking trail that takes you all the way into Sherwood Forest (40 minute hike). There are also cycle trails to take you into a variety of surrounding villages with their uniquely characterful Taverns, Pubs and Inns.
Cycles and safety helmets are also available for hire at the Vicarage to help you explore the outdoors and have a ride around the Sherwood Forest Park Mountain Bike Trail. If the weather turns and you fancy staying at the Vicarage, we have variety of board and computer games to keep you occupied. Whatever it is, our band of merry staff are here to make sure you have a great time.
The Old Vicarage is normally open year round, however reservations are recommended especially during the summer months and in the middle of winter. Facilities include washrooms with hot shower, a large shared living room and a private bar.
Besides double and twin rooms some with en-suite facilities, we have dorm bunk beds and outdoor space to pitch tents and Tipis. Our prices range from £10 to £100 including a cooked and continental breakfast. |
