Malton Attractions

Whether you want to escape from the World, explore the Tea Room capital of the North or enjoy fabulous fun filled family adventures there's no shortage of things to do in North Yorkshire Yorkshire is friendly and relaxing, and full of simple pleasures, nostalgic delights and great value indulgence!

Why not explore the beauty of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, either by car, on foot, on horseback or by bicycle?

See the Sea! The East Coast is full of the sights, sounds and flavours of smugglers, fishing, boats and boat trips, sports, birds and fossils! (Did you know that Whitby Jet is actually fossilised Monkey Puzzle Tree and that you can explore the beach and find your very own piece?) Scarborough, Whitby and Filey are all well worth a visit, as are many of the smaller 'undiscovered' Yorkshire Coast towns. The East Coast has a seaside town that will suit absolutely everyone.

There are more Castles than you can shake a bow and arrow at! Scarborough, Conisborough, Helmsley, Pickering, Middleham and Richmond all have Castles to explore, to say nothing of Whitby Abbey and Rievaulx Abbey and loads of under-explored ancient villages and houses in the region.

York- York is a great travel destination, and is only a 15 minute train ride from The Old Lodge. It's full of ancient history and charm, plus there are dozens of Restaurants and hundreds of great shops to explore. There are many year round events to enjoy too. Why not go for a River Boat ride, or even a 'Medieval Makeover' at Clifford's Tower and become a Lord, Lady, Peasant or Peddlar for a while? (Medieval makeovers are available July 25th to August 31st 2009, 11am to 5pm) Of course the Minster is one of York's most ancient and beautiful sights and should not be missed.
