An eighteenth century former rectory to the chrurch in Corwen, half a mile away, Plas Derwen (which translates as Oak Hall in Welsh) is a grade II listed building situation in the western end of the scenic and historic Dee Valley. Set within five acres of secluded garden and rolling fields, with magnificent views over the River Dee and valley, Plas Derwen offers a friendly, peaceful and tranquil setting.
The Oak Room overlooking the garden with its ancient oaks and Dee Valley beyond, is elegantly furnished and spacious. Having a double and single bed with the option of an extra single bed makes an ideal family room.
The Laburnum Room is also large and elegently furnished. This room overlooks the garden and orchard with hills beyond. It has a double and single bed and can be used as a family room, double or twin. The Laburnum Room is situated opposite the Oak room and together, being the only rooms on that side of the house can make an ideal suite of rooms for families or friends travelling together.
The Wisteria Room features a king size bed and antique furniture (right). The purple, sweet smelling wisteria frames the georgian windows which looks out across the garden and Dee Valley beyond.
The grounds of Plas Derwen include fields, dry stone walls, mature gardens, woodlands and orchards. Being on an elevated position we have magnificent views over the River Dee and beyond. The ancient oaks provide shade for long hot lazy days relaxing in one of our hammocks or enjoying a glass of cool wine at the table under the shady umbrella. |
