Bed and Breakfast Description

Built in 1887, this lovely Victorian guest house is situated in a quiet, residential area of town away from main roads and traffic. From the b&b it's an easy walk to theatres, shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants as well as to the Welcombe Hills and Clopton Park – a local nature reserve. Privately run by its owners, Simon and Drenagh, Hardwick House offers comfortable ensuite guest rooms all with free parking and free wifi. You are guaranteed a warm welcome and knowledgeable advice about the area’s attractions.

High standards of cleanliness are maintained throughout and all bedrooms are fresh, well decorated and non smoking. Built in 1887, the building is classic Victorian, keeping lovely and warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

Enjoy a delicious English breakfast in our non smoking dining room. Breakfast is freshly cooked to order, using bacon and sausages from local butchers. We are happy to cater for vegetarians and special diets (by arrangement). We serve breakfast from 8-9am Mon-Fri and at weekends from 8.30-9.30am; however just let us know on arrival and we can usually arrange a 'lighter breakfast' at a later time if you want to have a lazy morning!

We regret that we are unable to cater for pets, or for children under the age of 12.

Stratford upon Avon Attractions

Stratford upon Avon is a lovely town in which to spend a few days. Situated on the River Avon, it is compact enough to wander around and offers lots of choices for sightseeing, shopping, eating and drinking. William Shakespeare was born and buried in Stratford which is now home to The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) which performs his plays throughout the year.

Organized tours and buses are available or you can stroll around as you wish. Anne Hathaway was Shakespeare’s wife and her picturesque cottage lies in the village of Shottery just outside the town. Mary Arden was Shakespeare’s mother - her house and farm at Wilmcote make a lovely visit and give you the opportunity to see village life and try afternoon tea or a pub lunch.

Hardwick House is close to the Welcombe Hills if you enjoy walking or the canal path is great for watching narrow boats going through the locks.

B&B Location

Hardwick House is located in a quiet residential area just minutes from the centre of Stratford and all the Shakespeare attractions.

It is easy to find - from the M40 motorway exit at junction 15.

Take the A46 then the A439 signposted Stratford-upon-Avon. Drive for about 4 miles and turn right into St. Gregory's Road immediately after the 30mph sign. Drive straight ahead for 300 yards and turn first right into Avenue Road (Hardwick House is on the corner).
