...with an intimate charm that no large hotel can match, we have become the favourite choice for the discerning traveller. We offer old fashioned hospitality, kind and attentive service in civilised surroundings. Beautiful old furniture, pictures and rugs are everywhere at Marmadukes and our lounges have lovely, deep antique sofas.
Marmadukes comprises two large town houses that were once a Victorian Gentleman’s residence, now converted into boutique hotel accommodation in the upmarket district of Bootham, just a short walk to York Minster and the City walls. In its own very unique style the hotel has twenty bedrooms, a Library Lounge, bar, Club Room, a state of the art business centre and a very special Garden Spa set within a small walled garden that is built over a Roman burial ground. We have free car parking with security gate access and offer complimentary broadband throughout.
With heavy Georgian and Victorian antique furniture, beautiful colours and Italian fabrics, each of the 20 bedrooms at Marmadukes is different and delightful. Resting on wooden, brass or iron bedsteads, our handmade mattresses are dressed in crisp white Egyptian cotton sheets, ensuring a good night’s sleep. Breakfast is included in all room rates and consists of a comprehensive continental platter with unlimited cereals, fruit, pastries, and juices and is followed by beautifully presented cooked breakfasts, cooked to order daily by our award-winning chef. |
