Bed and Breakfast Description

The Fox & Hounds Country Inn is set in the beautiful village of Sinnington, lying midway between the little Yorkshire market towns of Kirkbymoorside and Pickering. This 18th Century coaching inn continues to offer hospitality in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Andrew & Catherine Stephens, the resident proprietors, together with their staff aim to provide the visitor with the very best in comfort, cuisine and service.

There are 10 en-suite bedrooms, including three premium which are slightly bigger and have baths as well as showers. An attractive residents lounge, a charming olde worlde lounge bar and an elegant refurbished non-smoking restaurant, all with open fires, invites cosy evenings when the grey autumn and winter nights close in. Our three chefs provide a quality and varied menu which is reflected in the continued success of the AA Rosette for good food and service.

Pickering Attractions

Rich in scenery, history and wildlife, this area of North Yorkshire, adjacent to the North York Moors National Park is well loved by walkers, nature lovers, cyclists and artists alike, providing a well earned break for those in search of stimulation and relaxation.

No visit to the North Yorkshire Moors would be complete without a visit to the famous Castle Howard, featured in Brideshead Revisited.

In this area you can visit many museums, castles, abbeys, a bird sanctuary and the glorious heritage coast. There are markets to be visited as well as our famous agricultural shows and village fetes. The North Yorkshire Moors themselves are the host to the world famous North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, a must for any visitor.

The energetic visitor can enjoy walking, swimming, cycling, fishing as well as a game of golf. For the less energetic ambling along our un-crowded roads on the moors to take in the breathtaking scenery is a pleasurable pass time. Take care! You might just meet the bobby on his bicycle from the famous “Heartbeat” TV Series. In order to truly enjoy the many picnic sites around do not forget our packed lunches.

Journey to York and experience the varied richness of this historic city. The varied attractions include the award winning Jorvik Centre, the famous York Minster and the Castle Museum.

Whitby is situated to the north east of Pickering and hosts some wonderful attractions. The magnificent Abbey dominates the southern cliff top, overlooking the harbour. Captain Cook set sail from Whitby on the Endeavour and there is a small museum in Pannet Park.
