Bed and Breakfast Description |
| |
|
Shannon Court is everything you would expect of a guest house in Harrogate. Situated in what is known as “High Harrogate” our truly excellent and convenient location is just a 7 minute stroll to the Harrogate International Conference Centre and only a few minutes by car to the Great Yorkshire Showground and Pavilions Exhibition Halls.
We like to think that what people want is a “home from home” when travelling for whatever reason. That’s what we strive to offer here at the Shannon Court. Our guest house offers 8 well proportioned, comfortable rooms, all with en-suite facilities. The rooms offer everything you would expect at an above average guest house catering from the business person to the tourist. They are: agreeably furnished, always spotlessly clean, tea and coffee making facilities, television and hairdryers, wi-fi enabled, and centrally heated.
We are a non smoking establishment and unfortunately the only dogs we can accept are those used as working dogs for the blind or hard of hearing. We serve you breakfast, at a time convenient to the start of your day, in our traditional dining room with its beautiful marble fireplace. As we offer both a traditional full English breakfast for those with a hearty appetite, or the “healthier” options which are becoming more popular, you can have it tailored to your individual taste. Just ask and we will let you know what we have available to set you up for your day.
You don’t have to worry about parking either. In addition to our private parking spaces, we provide parking permits free of charge for the duration of your stay and there are ample on-street parking slots available right outside our door. |

Harrogate Attractions |
| |
Today’s Harrogate evolved from a collection of hamlets in the 16th century but there is evidence of population as early as 4500BC. The Romans visited and established a town called Isurium (Alderborough) in the 2nd century, but its present name is derived from Har-Low-Gata, meaning Grey-Hill-Road. With the coming of the railways around 1850 the town grew rapidly and in its heyday before 1914, European royalty visited regularly. From these early days came the development of the famous Turkish Spa Baths, Betty's Tea rooms, its wonderful theatre and magnificent shopping parades. These are all just a short walk from Shannon Court. More recently Harrogate has evolved into one of the major conference and exhibition destination. This means that there is a lively and diverse mix of things to explore, experience, take part in, and enjoy.
Royal Pump Rooms - Visit the strongest sulphur wells in Europe, where over 15,000 people used to come every summer. Don't forget to taste the water for yourself, it's an unforgettable experience!
Fewston Reservoir - The walk around the perimeter of Fewston Reservoir is one of the best of all the reservoir walks in the Leeds and Harrogate area.
Fountains Abbey - One of the most remarkable places in Europe, this World Heritage Site comprises the spectacular ruin of a 12th-century Cistercian abbey and monastic watermill, an Elizabethan mansion and one of the best surviving examples of a Georgian water garden. Elegant ornamental lakes, canals, temples and cascades provide a succession of dramatic, eye-catching vistas. |
