Bed and Breakfast Description

Elisabeth and Mike Lakey look forward to welcoming you to their home at Bank Farm. Elisabeth, a retired occupational therapist runs the B&B and is also a curate in the local benefice having been ordained in 2001. Mike is retired from the RAF and now busies himself with gardening, maintenance, walking, Rotary and classic cars amongst many other things.

Bank Farm is situated five miles north of Henley-on-Thames in the beautiful Chiltern Hills. The farm covers 50 acres and is now used as grazing for suckler cows. The farmhouse dates from 1758 and is adjacent to the B480 road in the village of Pishill. The Crown Inn is almost next-door and offers a good selection of lunch and evening meals. We can sleep up to 6 guests in double and twin rooms.

The farmhouse is a grade II listed building with many beams, an inglenook fireplace, and decorative brickwork. All rooms have central heating, television and radio, hot drink facilities, extra bedding and pillows, and modern art (not extreme) on the walls. Due to the age of the building and size of the rooms we do not have en-suite facilities; all the rooms share a large & well equipped bathroom.

The house has a large garden and orchard with a ‘vineyard’ containing 25 vines in 5 varieties from which we make our own wine.

Henley-on-Thames Attractions

Bank Farm provides a good base for exploring the Chiltern hills by bicycle. There are many quiet lanes and bridle paths which are suitable for cycling and the Chiltern AONB site has many ideas for cycling adventures in this area. We may be able to assist with the transportation of you and your bicycle so that you can extend your travels from Bank Farm. We will be pleased to discuss your ideas and will help if we can.

We are nicely situated for those wishing to visit London or any of the Thames valley towns between Oxford and Windsor. Legoland, Windsor Castle, Oxford, Burford and the Bicester Shopping Village are all within easy reach by car. Local places to visit include Stonor Park (1 mile), Henley on Thames and in particular the River and Rowing Museum, Wallingford and Windsor. For children Beale Park is well worth a visit.
