Bed and Breakfast Description

Laurel End House offers quiet accommodation but is also ideally located for local independent shopping, vegetarian and artisan cafes and real ale pubs. The area is ideal for walkers, being located right at the heart of Pennine Moorland Bronte country. The steep walk up the historic cobbled buttress takes you to the hilltop village of Heptonstall. Nearby local beauty spot Hardcastle Crags offers accessible, well-pathed wooded walks. For keen cyclists, Cragg Vale boasts the challenge of the longest continual uphill cycle route in the country. Hebden Bridge has a lively arts, music and culture scene, with an independent cinema on your doorstep, and events happening throughout the year, one of the highlights of which is the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival.

We offer spacious rooms with private facilities and a secluded garden. Private parking. Lovely views over the park, across the Calder Valley and Rochdale Canal marina. Special rates for longer stays. Family room available.

Hebden Bridge Attractions

Hebden Bridge prides itself on its many and varied independent shops, cafes, eateries, and drinking holes. Please feel free to ask for insider's advice on venues according to your preferred taste, price range, style and venue.

Hebden Bridge is wonderful for walking and access to the Pennine Way and the Calderdale Way is virtually on your doorstep at Laurel End House. A must do walk is the trail from Hebden Bridge town centre up to Stoodley Pike, which takes you up through beech woods and over Horsehold Moor with stunning views over the Calder Valley. There are many other walks leaving in all directions from the house, which can be varied according to the desired length and agility level.

Heptonstall is a beautiful historic village perched on the hill above Hebden Bridge. You can take a brisk walk up the old road - the cobbled and impossibly steep "buttress" - or it's a ten minute journey by car. Heptonstall is packed full of interesting things to look at. Check out the weaver's museum, the Octagonal Church, the remains of the old 15th Century Parish Church , and hunt down poet Sylvia Plath's grave in the graveyard of the new Church.

The beautiful drive from Hebden Bridge to the nearby town of Haworth - birthplace of the famous Bronte sisters - takes you across the very moors upon which Wuthering Heights was based (the Bronte sisters used to regularly walk these moors on foot, travelling from Haworth to Halifax). Haworth is great for traditional tea shops, second hand bookshops and antiques and bric-a-brac. The Parsonage in which the Bronte sisters grew up has been made into a dedicated museum, which is a must see for fans of the sister's literature.
