Bed and Breakfast Description

Fyling Old Hall is situated approximately half-way between Robin Hood's Bay and Boggle Hole on the picturesque North Yorkshire coast. Only a short drive from Whitby and with the Esk Valley, the North Yorkshire Moors and many other beautiful places within easy reach.

The house is medieval in origin, although the present house is probably the East Wing of a large house re-built in 1629. The house retains many of it's original features and the surrounding gardens form a perfect setting with a series of walled and terraced gardens leading to paddocks, woodland and beyond.

Fyling Old Hall offers 3 spacious bedrooms: 2 double and 1 twin room. All rooms have wonderful views of the surrounding, unspoilt countryside and have tea and coffee making facilities. Residents have use of their own lounge with TV & DVD, open fireplace, piano and well stocked book shelves.

Guests can look forward to a delicious AGA cooked full English breakfast including Fyling Old Hall's very own free-range eggs as well as a choice of cereals, fruit and toast with a range of jams and spreads. Afternoon Teas and picnics are available by request (to be ordered in advance).

Fyling Old Hall offers secure bike storage for all guests as well as workshop facilities, bike wash station and drying room. We do not allow pets. Fyling Old Hall is non-smoking throughout.

Whitby Attractions

With the Whitby to Scarborough disused railway path running through the middle of Fyling Old Hall's grounds this is the perfect place from which to explore this part of Yorkshire's coast. Whitby is approximately 7 miles by bike along the railway path making it a sensibly short and pleasant ride for cyclists of all experience levels. As you ride north towards Whitby, you'll pass through Robin Hood's Bay and follow the cliff top around the coast, providing some stunning views of the North Sea on one side and open countryside to the other.

Ravenscar is only 4 miles away in the opposite direction, with Scarborough perhaps another 14 miles down the coast. The railway path is equally suitable and enjoyable for walkers too taking you through woodland and countryside and providing some of the finest views in the area.

The Cleveland Way passes through Robin Hood's Bay and also provides a pleasent walk between Fyling Old Hall and Whitby and beyond, or Scarborough for the more adventurous. There a many shorter walks available in the area close to Fyling Old Hall with guide books availble from local shops.

Dalby Forest is only 30 minutes drive away. It has become one of, if not the most popular mountain biking destination in North Yorkshire with miles and miles of purpose built trails catering for all experience levels. Click Here to visit the Forestry Commission's Dalby website for more information on all the activities available at the forest. Even if you don't fancy walking or cycling very far the visitor centre and other attractions make Dalby a great day out.
