Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Widmouth Farm (Bed & Breakfast/self catering) is situated in 35 acres of gardens, woodland and a private beach on the Devon National Heritage Coastline. Widmouth Farm Cottages is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, and offers the perfect holiday for families and people of all ages. Instead of a room in the owners house - your own cottage with a proper private sitting room.

Breakfast ‘par excellence’ in the most magnificent modern farmhouse kitchen. You are asked to choose the night before and there are daily ‘specials’ prepared individually for you by the owner. You agree a time for breakfast with us when you check in (usually between 8am and 9.30am) and you come over to our house then.

At breakfast you will enjoy views across the fields to the sea, about 500 yards away. At high tide you can watch the sailing and fishing boats going in and out of Watermouth Harbour. You can also see the sheep ambling by just outside the window. A real ‘country experience’! There is a 3 night minimum and 4 night maximum stay for B & B. In your luxury cosy cottage you can relax and enjoy the peace and privacy. A welcome drink is always provided on arrival.

Here is an example of rooms used for B&B:

Robin Cottage and Wren Cottage - both sleep 2. These cosy, single storey apartments with ground floor access have a car parking space just outside. They are also situated opposite the dog exercise field and have a half door just inside to provide a sheltered area for wiping muddy paws before entering or so you can leave the front door open to let some more air circulate on warm days! Facilities include open plan living/dining room, night storage heating and electric heaters, colour television with video player & DVD and Shower room/toilet.

 

Ilfracombe Attractions

 
North Devon is an area of great natural beauty, escaping much of the modern day commercialism associated with many UK resorts. You will find rolling green hills, spectacular golden beaches, wide-open moorland and sleepy market towns. The mild climate makes it ideal for relaxing for a spring or autumn break, whilst the sun, sea and sand provide the perfect setting for a memorable summer family holiday.

Such a diversity of natural landscape enables equally varied opportunities for outdoor activities such as horse riding, cycling, surfing, and sailing or a simple boat trip. Concessionary rates are available at nearby Ilfracombe Golf Club, one of North Devon's glorious courses. Fishing is readily available too whether it's sea fishing or fishing at a trout lake nearby.

DIRECTIONS FROM THE M5 MOTORWAY: Leave at Junction 27 and follow the A361 North Devon link road towards Barnstaple. You will come to the North Aller Roundabout (just North of South Molton town) where you take the 3rd exit (effectively turning right) towards Combe Martin on the A399. When you leave Combe Martin you will pass (and ignore) two signs for Berrynarbor, then you will pass Watermouth Cove on your right and Watermouth Castle on your left. We are about half a mile further on, on the right. There is a 'hanging sign' (like a pub sign) at the top of our driveway.

DIRECTIONS FROM BARNSTAPLE: Follow the signs to the ND District Hospital and go past the hospital and take the next left on the B3230 which takes you through the villages of Milltown and Muddiford. Continue on the road (ignoring signs for Ilfracombe Town Centre) until you reach a set of traffic lights at a T junction. Turn right towards Hele Bay (pronounced Heel Bay) and Combe Martin. Drive through Hele Bay, up the hill past the Golf Club on your right, then the Coastguards cottages on your left. We are about quarter of a mile further on, on the left, and there is a painted plough and a hanging sign at the top of our driveway.
