While retaining many architectural and historical features, the White Hart is a grade II listed building that’s been recently refurbished to provide you with a wonderfully comfortable and relaxing sitting room with a roaring log fire and a sparkling new Brasserie for delicious informal dining - we still provide all the modern comforts that you would expect - and your dogs are very welcome as well!

The White Hart hotel welcomes you to our warm and cosy restaurant, where each meal is individually prepared and cooked by our talented team of chefs. The restaurant prides itself on using the freshest local ingredients to create a mouth-watering menu of dishes to choose from. Coupled with a variety of locally brewed ales, you’ll be pleasantly spoilt for choice.

The White Hart offers a range of tastefully decorated and practical facilities. The spacious and well lit rooms provide a relaxing and comforting atmosphere, where the little details of fresh flowers make all the difference. Each room has its own luxurious double bed, and have been decorated to retain their original charm, offering en-suite facilities, flat screen TV’s, CD players and coffee and tea making facilities.

 

Moretonhampstead Attractions

 
Set in the centre of Devon and in the heart of Dartmoor, Moretonhampstead is the perfect location for exploring and travelling, with easy access from any direction. Only a short drive away from both the north and south coasts and seconds away from the splendours of Dartmoor. Moretonhampstead allows you to view everything magnificent about Devon from one comfortable bed.

Moretonhampstead dates back to the Saxon times with many historic features like the fifteenth century granite church. As part of a local arts project, there are many remarkable examples of wrought ironwork and sculptures dotted around the town. It is recommended to look out for the dramatic sparrow hawk swooping overhead in the square.

With lots of outstanding activities in the local area you will have to pick at least one. There are local playing fields, gymnasium, tennis courts, a swimming pool for the summer and a sports centre. Fishing, golf, horse riding and rock climbing are also popular activities which our guest enjoy taking part in.
 

B&B Location
 
The M4 from London; the M6 from the North West and the M1/M42 from the North East – all link up with the M5 to take you to the South to Devon and the West Country, where it ends and becomes the A38 just before Exeter.

Exit the M5 at Junction 31 and follow the A30 dual carriage-way towards Okehampton for approximately 15 miles.

At Whiddon Down, the Merrymeet roundabout, take the A382 for Chagford and Moretonhampstead.

The White Hart Hotel is in the centre of Moretonhampstead and parking is available just down the road.
