Knaresborough Attractions |
| |
Whether it's sightseeing the cathedrals and castles, walking the dales and moors or simply enjoying Yorkshire's finest in food and drink, Newton House is ideally situated for exploring the surrounding culture and countryside...
Knaresborough is a medieval market town with a charm all of its own, offering a host of attractions for visitors. Top of most people's lists is the spectacular view along the River Nidd, which winds through a limestone gorge and passes under the high, arched railway viaduct, built in 1851. A stroll along the riverside lets you take in the sights, do a little gentle boating or treat yourself to an ice cream or a café meal. On the opposite bank is Mother Shipton's Cave, former home of England's most famous prophetess, and the Petrifying Well where everything from a top hat to a teddy bear gradually turns to stone.
Newton House is ideally situated for guests to explore the very best that Yorkshire has to offer. The Edwardian spa town of Harrogate is less than 4 miles away and offers excellent shopping and dining in beautiful surroundings. Leeds, now a premier destination for retail therapy and a place that thrives on an ever-changing bar and restaurant scene, is easily reached by car or train.
Historic York is equally accessible and combines the antiquity of its Roman walls and ancient Minster with internationally-famous museums, boat trips on the river and more, all set around a busy, bustling shopping, eating and drinking city centre.
Heading up country from Knaresborough, the North York Moors await. Mile after mile of spectacular countryside - excellent for walking, but rewarding for motorists too - leads to the smugglers' villages and charming seaside resorts of our beautiful coast. And away to the west the Yorkshire Dales is excellent walking country, giving you an ever-changing landscape of breathtaking views dotted with charming towns and villages and their warm and welcoming pubs. |
