Bed and Breakfast Description

Cafe BeanGoose can be found in one of the oldest houses in Holy Island village, Selby House. It is in a central village location, next to Lindisfarne Priory. Guests can enjoy sea views to the front of the house and the privacy of our beautiful sunny garden, full of birds and flowers.

The B&B and Self-Catering Cottages are run by Lesley and Roger Andrews. The accommodation above the café boasts a large family room overlooking Holy Island village square with views across the sea to the Farne Islands, and a lovely twin room overlooking our beautiful garden. In our adjoining building, The Stable annexe, there is a large double ensuite bedroom overlooking the garden and a double bedroom with views across the Market Square to Holy Island harbour. The Stable has its own private garden and its own cosy sitting room.

Cafe BeanGoose B&B was recommended in The Guardian newspaper by travel writer Dixe Wills when, during August, he set off from Holy Island to walk the St Oswald's Way: "....my room [Farne View] had one of the largest beds on whose organic cotton sheets I've ever had the privilege of sprawling, and the view somehow crammed in both the attractive village square and the distant Farne Islands."

Berwick-upon-Tweed Attractions

Lindisfarne Castle - Romantic 16th-century castle with spectacular views, transformed by Lutyens into an Edwardian holiday home. Intimate decoration and design by Lutyens; Perched atop a rocky island crag, accessible only by causeway; Charming Getrude Jekyll walled-garden; Fantastic views of Farne Island and Bamburgh Castle; Well-preserved lime kilns.

Lindisfarne Priory - one of the most important centres of early Christianity in Anglo-Saxon England. It is still a place of pilgrimage today, the dramatic approach across the causeway adding to its fascination. Founded by St Aidan in AD635, the site owes its fame to St Cuthbert, the greatest of Northumbrian holy men, who lived and died there. Wander around the atmospheric ruins, and visit the refurbished museum. There you’ll discover the fascinating story of the monks who lived on Holy Island until the monastery was suppressed in 1537.
