Bed and Breakfast Description

 

We wish you a very warm welcome to the Yellow House Farm Bed and Breakfast website. Yellow House is situated just ½ mile beyond the village of West Woodburn near Otterburn, in the heart of historic Northumberland. The accommodation still maintains its original countryside charm, and has recently been renovated: now boasting three spacious en-suite bedrooms, dinning room and a sun lounge.

The Hadrian Twin - This spacious room also has stunning views over the Rede valley. Twin beds which can also make into a double if required. The bathroom is en - suite. All bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary toiletries.

The Kielder Suite - This is a spacious suite which has two singles and one double bed in the main room. There is a dresing room with wardrobes and a dressing table - through to a large en suite bathroom. Views over the gardens and the River Rede are stunning.

The Otterburn Double Room - Comprises one double bed with an en suite bathroom and pine fittings. This bedroom has its own private bathroom with fabulous views over the valley.

The location of Yellow House makes it an ideal retreat for those wanting a longer term holiday as a base to explore Northumberland or for a complete rest. The Kielder Suite and the Hadrian Room are big enough to live in as well as sleep! Guests have the full use of the Sun Lounge and gardens at all times. You will receive a warm welcome from your hosts Avril and Edward. Once booked in you are free to come and go as you please. Make sure to ask us about any special festivals or functions that may coincide with your stay.

 

Hexham Attractions

 
Yellow House is well situated in the heart of Northumberland, England's rural border county, on the edge of the National Park. The area has recently been recognised as the most tranquil place in the country. Nestled in the Cheviot Hills it is the ideal base for walkers, cyclists, horse riding, outdoor sports or those wishing simply to enjoy the spectacular scenery.

In addition to the many footpaths and bridleways around Yellow House (the alternative Coast to Coast Route goes through the village of West Woodburn), we are near to the Pennine Way and Kielder Forest. Fishing can be arranged on the nearby River Rede or stillwater fishing at Sweethope Lough and Kielder Water.

Sustrans National Route 68 passes through West Woodburn village with many other routes nearby. There are full lockup facilities at Yellow House. For a more gentle activity, art classes are available all year round. For six weeks in June/July the Art Tour takes place where you can visit artists in their studios.

There are over 500 castles and houses in Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Bamburgh Castle to name but one, stands on a rocky outcrop on the very edge of the North Sea commanding stunning views of the Farne Islands and Holy Island.
