Bed and Breakfast Description


Wormald House is located near the centre of Wylam which is in the very attractive Tyne Valley and only 12 miles from the centre of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Gateshead's MetroCentre. Both are accessible by train from the village station, we have easy access to Newcastle Airport and secure off-road parking.

We are only 1/2 mile from the Hadrian's Wall National Trail and offer every facility for walkers and cyclists. The Hadrian's Cycle Way (Route 72) almost passes the house and we offer safe cycle storage. A warm welcome and comfortable stay awaits you along with a refreshing welcome tray on arrival.


Wylam Attractions

Wylam is ideally situated for visiting many attractions and has easy access to good road network and to Newcastle Airport. Hadrian's Wall and the various Roman forts, all in the beautiful Northumberland countryside, can be easily reached. Wylam is the birthplace of railway pioneer George Stephenson and Wormald House stands on the site of the birthplace of one of his contempories, Timothy Hackworth - Stephenson's Cottage, now owned by the National Trust, is situated 1/2 mile east of the village.

The very attractive Northumberland coastline with its famous castles at Bamburgh and Holy Island and magnificent beaches make excellent days out. Also accessible are Beamish Museum, Alnwick and the Alnwick Garden, Kielder Water and not forgetting the regenerated Newcastle/Gateshead Quayside with it's famous bridges, the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Arts, The Sage Music Centre and many excellent places to eat. Newcastle-upon-Tyne is also the home to a variety of museums and art galleries and the Centre for Life.

Continue straight onto Holeyn Hall Rd 0.4 mi
Holeyn Hall Rd turns slightly right and becomes Church Rd 0.2 mi
