Bed and Breakfast Description |
| |
|
With the coast on the doorstep and access to Exmoor from the back door, situated on the harbour, the pub is in an ideal position from which to explore the beautiful west Somerset coastline as well as the wilds of Exmoor. The Old Ship Aground offers a friendly and relaxed atmosphere for all the family. This beautiful old character pub beside the coast, offers 12 spacious and comfortable ensuite rooms with views across the Bristol Channel. Typical of its age, The Old Ship Aground retains the traditional character of the building with high ceilings and old beams.
A feeling of space is created in each room, and this extends into the views, many of which are far reaching across the Bristol Channel. Tea and coffee making facilities are also available in each room. The rooms also have easy access to the bar, restaurant and function rooms in the hotel. A varied breakfast menu is served downstairs in the restaurant where you can enjoy sea views while you eat.
The bar at The Old Ship Aground in Minehead is of a good country pub size in a convenient town location. With a friendly atmosphere and real coal fire as well as access to a pool table, dart board and numerous games, an evening out in The Old Ship can be both fun and relaxing. Three quiz teams meet each week and share the bar with the locals and visiting diners alike. The bar is enjoyed by all, those who just want a quiet drink on the way home from work or those looking for a fun night out in Minehead!
The restaurant area is traditionally furnished with cosy seating areas and well placed tables where you can eat your meal in warm surroundings and an enjoyable atmosphere. It can seat up to 80 on a full night and often gets booked out for private dinner party functions. |

Minehead Attractions |
| |
Minehead, situated at the foot of the Exmoor National Park is one of the Country’s top ports for deep sea angling. With over 40 species taken each year it is clear to see why so many keen sea anglers choose Minehead as their favourite location. In the spring, rays and smoothound may be taken within minutes of the harbour with small-eyeds, thornback, spotted and the huge blonde regularly reaching specimen weights.
As the summer unfolds, some of the larger charter vessels will venture further afield taking excellent bags of pollack, huss, bass and tope. Inshore reef fishing can be fantastic with triggerfish, wrasse and bream featuring in most bags. Autumn is our favourite time to target the bass, though these fish are finicky and difficult to catch at best. Hit it right though and you could be in for some of the best sport the Country has to offer!
Situated along the coastline of North Devon and Somerset, with some of the most stunning scenery in the country, Exmoor National Park continues to delight visitors year after year. One of the smallest and prettiest of Britain’s national parks, about 265 square miles in area. Visit the moor and enjoy this quiet and unspoilt corner of Somerset and North Devon. Ancient wooded valleys with magical waterfalls, a dramatic coastline with secluded beaches and miles and miles of wild open moorland. An area of contrasts with deep valleys and combes, high heather moorland and ancient oak woodland. Stunning at any time of year, Exmoor is a landscape for all seasons. If you are looking for an area of great natural beauty with wonderful walking, riding, and fishing then Exmoor is for you! |
