Bed and Breakfast Description |
| |
|
Located in a small moor side village, the cottage is across the common in the centre of the village built from stone which came from the church. The cottage is listed in the AA book of British Villages, a guide to the most interesting and attractive villages.
We offer a en-suite double room with tea and coffee making facilities, television with DVD player, and the use of your own downstairs sitting room.
The upstairs bedroom has uninterrupted views of the village, Heartbeats Aidensfield, and surrounding moors. The Aidensfield post office and village stores are all within view from the bedroom window, and the Aidensfield Arms and Scripps Garage are within easy walking distance.
The room above can be used as a sitting room, and is where your breakfast will be served. Breakfast includes a selection of cereals, toast and preserves, orange juice, coffee and fine Yorkshire tea, coupled with a traditional full English breakfast. The room looks across to the village green and shops. |

Whitby Attractions |

Goathland is a small village high on the North Yorkshire Moors. It has a population of around 450 and is lucky enough to still have a village Post Office, a village school, and several village pubs. Goathland is surrounded by open moorland, and farms. During late summer, the heather turns a vivid purple as far as the eye can see, and its honey-like smell fills the air.
A short walk from Mulgrave Cottage through the village will bring you to the North Yorkshire Railway Station of Goathland, which has been seen many times on Heartbeat, and also featured in the Harry Potter films. A trip back in time on one of the steam trains is perhaps the easiest way to view the surronding countryside without being too strenuous. For the more outdoor friendly people ther are miles of walks, The 'Rail Trail' and 'Mine Walks are two of the most popular walks, but for the more adventurous there are waterfalls, Neolithic sites, Roman roads and many other sites of intrest to be discovered, and of course i have to mention the fantastic views that just seem to surround you no matter where you go.
York, Middlesbrough, Whitby and Pickering are all just a short drive away if shopping is your preferred method of relaxation, as well as many ancient villages offering their own attractions are within easy driving distance.
Sheep are free to roam in the village and on the moors, and Goathland sees its first lambs from May onwards. The shepherd and his sheep dogs can be seen almost daily, rounding up the sheep in the village, and driving them back up onto the moors, where they turn around and make their way back into the village.
There are several waterfalls around Goathland, the most well known are the Mallyan Spout, Water Ark, and Thomason Foss. There are interesting walks in virtually every direction, all of which take you through stunning scenery. |
