Stephen & Toni welcome you to our family run hotel The Esplanade. We aim to make your stay a pleasant and enjoyable one, come and stay with us and discover the real Whitby, the jewel in the north Yorkshire coast.

A full home cooked full English breakfast is included with the price of your room, all ingredients are locally sourced where possible so you can be assured that you are getting the very best the area has to offer, we also offer a selection of cereals, fruit juice, fresh filtered coffee or tea and toast and preserves to ensure you have the best possible start to your stay with us. For those who prefer to have a lie in you may take a late breakfast in our licensed seafront restaurant - "The Quarterdeck." Evening meals generally consist of a Soup starter, Main course, Dessert and Tea or coffee.

 

Whitby Attractions

 
Whitby is famous for its long golden beaches and its quaint cobbled streets surrounding the busy working harbour, from the 199 steps that lead to St Marys church and the Abbey ruins that were the inspiration for Bram Stokers Dracula down to the pleasant marina and river side walks, Whitby has it all. Over on the West Cliff stands a statue of Captain Cook which overlooks an arch of real Whalebones, recalling the father & son Whaling Masters of the Scoresby Family.

Close by are the delightful fishing hamlets of Robin Hoods Bay to the south Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes to the north. Linking them together, is a waymarked long distance footpath ‘the Cleveland Way’ which is a joy to walk along with its rich wildlife, geology and dramatically plunging coastline. Surrounding all of this is the North Yorkshire moors national park a protected area of woods, forests, monks trods and spectacular scenery.
