Located in the Trough of Bowland, this decorative 18th-century pub sits in an impressive corner plot in the tranquil village of Forton. Along with three highly individual bedrooms, the inn is full of character and charm, with mismatched furniture, a roaring log fire in the handsome stone fireplace and some interesting ephemera. With fresh produce from the Forest of Bowland, the Lakeland fells and local Lancashire farms, and vegetables from his own garden, chef/patron Craig Wilkinson cooks traditional pub food with a twist.
The Bay Horse Inn has been established as a respected Inn and Restaurant since 1992 and is run by the Wilkinson family, Brian & Mae, their son Craig and daughter Yvonne.
In 2002 Craig and the team at the Bay Horse were put firmly on the culinary map when they won Lancashire and Lake District Dining Pub of the year and within a week had also won The Good Pub Guide Lancashire Dining Pub of the year. In the years to follow The Bay Horse Inn has gained several awards proving their consistency and their passion to provide the very best of locally sourced produce.
Discover the beauty and enjoy the tranquility of this unspoiled area of rural Lancashire. With glorious and peaceful countryside, The Trough of Bowland is the perfect destination. Here you can relax in the fresh air, walk the hills, stroll along the riverside paths or explore dozens of ancient villages, The Lake District National Park & Historical Lancaster. The ‘Wilkinson’ family who have run The Bay Horse for over 15 years has opened The Old ‘Corn Store’ directly opposite for accommodation. The converted barn has two letting rooms, The Oat Room, The Barley Room .
For many years the family has been asked for accommodation and when the opportunity arose to purchase the Old Corn Store earlier this year they jumped at the chance to provide rooms with an attractive and relaxing atmosphere. |
