Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Welcome to Moorcote! This Victorian house is set well back from the road in attractive gardens where guests are welcome to sit and relax at any time. The house is tastefully furnished, with most bedrooms benefiting from stunning views across Dartmoor and the surrounding countryside. The four-diamond rating awarded by the AA is your sign of quality assurance, giving you the confidence to book the accommodation that meets your expectations.

We can offer comfortable well appointed rooms with either single and double beds, plus two family rooms. Many rooms are en-suite, and all are provided with a colour television, tea and coffee making facilities, radio clock alarm, hairdryer and toiletries. Rooms are tastefully decorated throughout, and the Moorcote is provided with central heating.

A delicious home cooked breakfast of your choice awaits guests each morning in the bright attractive Breakfast Room. You can sit in the residents lounge, study the wide range of both books and maps and plan ahead for the days events. In summer the attractive garden is just the place for a quiet contemplation after a day out exploring Devon.

 

Moretonhampstead Attractions

 
The location makes an ideal base for those wishing to explore Dartmoor with its wonderful open moorland scenery. The house is little more than a stroll from the centre of town and a good choice of pubs serving food and ales. Ample parking is provided at the house, so guests can have an enjoyable evening and leave the car behind.

Walking
For the casual or serious walker there are many miles of natural beauty to explore over the moors, through forests and into valleys.

Cycling
Breath in healthy air and get fit in pleasant surrounding. Go on, go by bike, give it a try this summer. Local cycle hire available.

Horse Riding
There are many riding stables around Dartmoor, the great expanse of Dartmoor presents the rambler, cyclist and horse rider with unlimited opportunities.

Fishing
Game or coarse, in reservoirs, streams and rivers. There is fishing for everyone. Licences available. Sea angling is within easy reach at most coastal resorts.

Golf
For the golfing enthusiast, Dartmoor boasts a variety of courses all set admits the stunning backdrop of the moor itself. So whether you are a scratch player or a beginner, there is a course to suit your needs.
 

B&B Location
 
From the M5, turn off at junction 31 on to the A30. Take the first slip road towards Exeter and turn left at the roundabout on to the road signposted Ide and Moretonhampstead. Follow this road until you reach a T-junction where you turn left on to the B3212 to Moretonhampstead (12 miles). At Moretonhampstead turn right at the crossroads (marked by the Bell Inn, The White Hart Hotel and Lloyds Bank). Moorcote is on your right just past the hospital.
