Sarum Heights is a great place to stay if you are working in Salisbury, visiting friends or relatives, attending a wedding or conference, or coming to party. We are close to routes on the Wiltshire Cycleway, and cycle storage is available. We are in an ideal spot for tourists visiting England, being close to the city centre and close to the countryside.

Salisbury Attractions

From Sarum Heights you can enjoy exploring this wonderful city, which is the confluence of five rivers, on foot and in peace. Discover outstanding historic buildings, monuments, and beautiful waterways. A tour of the huge cathedral is genuinely moving. There are cool riverside paths to follow, while our streets and the cathedral close are famed for their many attractive historic buildings, including pubs and restaurants.

Although we are only 1.5 miles from the city centre, because Salisbury is a small city, we are also close to the countryside, with it’s many footpaths and cycle routes. The New Forest National Park is easily accessible by car, and Stonehenge is within easy striking distance being only 8 miles away.

Sarum Heights is almost opposite Old Sarum, which is actually a magnificent Iron Age earthworks fortification (approx. 3000 years old) and is one of the wonders of Wiltshire. The site contains the remains of a Norman castle, the original Salisbury Cathedral, and Royal Palace.

Stonehenge is surely Britain's greatest national icon, symbolizing mystery, power and endurance. Its original purpose is unclear, but some have speculated that it was a temple made for the worship of ancient earth deities. It has been called an astronomical observatory for marking significant events on the prehistoric calendar.

Wilton House has been the country seat of the Earls of Pembroke for over 400 years. The house is often described as England's most beautiful country house, in a land of beautiful country houses.

Longleat is the seat of the 7th Marquess of Bath. Visit Longleat House, see the lions in Longleat Safari Park, and explore the extensive grounds and mazes.

Salisbury Cathedral is a beautiful and historic building, an international symbol of Christianity and a world class heritage attraction. Unique among medieval English cathedrals, It is a centre of pilgrimage for hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.
