Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Ted and Val warmly welcome you to the Fountain Inn, Whiteparish. The Fountain Inn has six bedrooms, five twins and one single. All our rooms are elegantly and comfortably furnished and each room has a hospitality tray, TV and ensuite bath/shower room. We understand to get your day off to a great start you need a great breakfast and Val would be delighted to cook the breakfast of your choice, her full English comes highly recommended!

We have a cosy bar with an open fire in winter and a pretty beer garden to enjoy in the sunshine. We have a large car park behind the pub. Our menus offer traditional English food with a focus on seasonal, local produce from farmers markets in the Hampshire, Wiltshire and New Forest area. We use high quality ingredients and pride ourselves on simple honest cooking, offering great value. Our fine home cooked menu is available to diners in both the bar and restaurant.

 

Salisbury Attractions

 
New Forest National Park It is a unique landscape of ancient woodland, heather-covered heath, wide lawns, boggy mires, gentle farmland, coastal saltmarsh and mudflats and picturesque villages. Being on the edge of the New Forest we are able to offer great value accommodation.

Salisbury Cathedral is a 20 minute drive along the A36. There is plenty of parking in Salisbury. On Tuesdays and Saturdays there is the Charter Market in the market square and on the first and third Wednesday of the month there is a Farmers market, selling local produce.

Stonehenge is approximately 30-35 minutes drive.

Wilton House is slightly north of Salisbury, 15 minute drive is open from April onwards.

Breamore House is approximately 15 minutes drive and is open from April – September.

Winchester is about 30 minutes from here. There is a wonderful cathedral and a quaint market on Saturdays.

Beaulieu Motor Museum Exhibits include some of the earliest examples of motoring to legendary World Record Breakers like Bluebird, ‘TV Star’ cars like Del Boy’s Reliant Regal and rare oddities like the giant orange on wheels.

Paultons Golf 27 holes of outstanding golf with a spectacular backdrop of woodland and classic parkland.

Hamptworth Country Club A unique 6509 yard, par 72, championship golf course, winding its way through the ancient woodland of the Hamptworth Estate and over the River Blackwater.

The Salisbury and District Angling Club Upstream Dry Fly fishing for Brown Trout and Grayling on the chalk streams and rivers around Salisbury in Wiltshire England. Including the rivers Avon, Wylye, Nadder, Ebble and Bourne. Still water fly fishing for Rainbow Trout on small lakes. Coarse fishing on the Hampshire Avon, river Nadder and stillwater fishing at Petersfinger and Steeple Langford lakes.
 

B&B Location
 
The Fountain Inn can be found in the centre of Whiteparish, situated about 8 miles south of Salisbury and 8 miles north of Romsey on the edge of Wiltshire/Hampshire border and New Forest.

From Salisbury, take the A36 towards Southampton. After the Alderbury bypass follow the road up and over Pepperbox Hill and towards the traffic lights at Brickworth corner. Take the slip road left along the A27 towards Romsey. Whiteparish can be found after a couple of miles. The Fountain Inn is the first pub on the left with a large car park to the rear.

From Romsey take the A27 north and follow the road through the villages of Sherfield English, Cowesfield and then into Whiteparish. The Fountain Inn can be found just after the church, post office and is on the right hand side. Just take the slip road immediately before the pub into the car park.

From Southampton, either follow the directions from Romsey or the slightly quicker route is to follow the M27 to J2 and then the A36 north to Salisbury. At the traffic lights at Brickworth corner (large Texaco petrol station on right) take a right into the village following the A27 as above.
