Salisbury Attractions |
| |
Honeysuckle Homestead is a perfect place as a base for touring the many attractions within easy reach. A wide range of tourist literature is provided. Below are a few of our families' favourites.
Wilton House and Gardens - Residence of the 18th Earl of Pembroke, the house has many art treasures. There are beautiful gardens to explore with a large adventure playground. There are also a well stocked shop and restaurant.
Salisbury Cathedral - The cathedral has the highest spire in Britain and holds an original copy of the Magna Carta. Climb 332 steps through the roof spaces to the foot of the spire, 225 feet above ground level, for breathtaking views.
Stonehenge - The world heritage site of Stonehenge houses the most intriguing and remarkable monument in the British Isles providing a mysterious fascination as old as the great temples and pyramids of Egypt.
Old Sarum - Originally an Iron Age hill-fort, later occupied by Romans and Saxons and finally Normans who built the castle and cathedral. The cathedral was moved to its present site in the 13th century.
Stourhead - An outstanding 18th Century landscape with something to offer, whatever the season. Specimen trees, spring bulbs, flowering shrubs, hybrid rhododendrons and an historic collection of pelargoniums. Classical and Gothic buildings are set against wooded slopes.
There are many other places of interest for the family such as Longleat, Paultons Park, Farmer Giles Farmstead, Cholderton Rare Breeds Farm Park, The Hawk Conservancy and Monkey World to name a few. |
