Corsham Attractions |
| |
Pickwick Lodge bed and breakfast Corsham, sits quietly on the very edge of Corsham, in the tiny Hamlet of Pickwick. Just 8 miles north-East of Bath and 5 miles from the M4 junction, we are perfectly situated to take advantage of all that Wiltshire, Bath, the South of England and Wales can offer. Corsham and its surroundings have lots of leisure activities for you to enjoy. Golf, fishing, adventure playgrounds, bicycling, boating, walking, sports and a safari park.
Stonehenge - "The great and ancient stone circle of Stonehenge is one of the wonders of the world. What visitors see today are the substantial remnants of the last in a sequence of such monuments erected between circa 3000BC and 1600BC. There has always been intense debate over quite what purpose Stonehenge served. Certainly, it was the focal point in a landscape filled with prehistoric ceremonial structures, now a World Heritage Site."
Avebury - "One of the most important megalithic monuments in Europe is spread over a vast area at Avebury*" "The stone circle is thought to date from around 2600BC, although the proper chronology of the site is not completely understood by archaeologists...What remains of the circle now is only a small proportion of what must have been an awe-inspiring place when it was in use over 4000 years ago."
Lacock - Lacock is a small, picturesque village that has not changed in two hundred years. There are no aerials, overhead cables or yellow lines and a walk through this magical village will feel like walking back in time. The main features of Lacock include the Abbey - one time home to Fox Talbot, the inventor of the camera - the 15th century Sign of the Angel, the 14th century Tithe Barn and The George, possibly the oldest pub in Wiltshire. |
