Bed and Breakfast Description

Woodlands is a substantial well appointed Guest House with an informal friendly atmosphere. Woodlands has a choice of single, double and twin rooms all with colour tv, radio and tea/coffee making facilities. Most rooms are particularly spacious, beautifully furnished, fully en suite and have splendid views across the valley. Ideal for spring and autumn breaks, the property is centrally heated throughout.

The sun lounge with its beautiful outlook across the valley is an ideal place to sit and read or enjoy a drink. (We are fully licensed). There is a private car park and a garden which extends down to the West Lyn river, also a boot and drying room with laundry facilities if required.

There are many other little touches to make your stay more enjoyable, however, if you have severe mobility problems Woodlands may not be suitable as our drive from the car park to the house is steep. If you are not sure, give us a call and we will be happy to answer your queries.

Lynton Attractions

The Victorians christened the twin villages of Lynton and Lynmouth ‘The little Switzerland of England’ because of the romantic scenery. In more recent times the villages have become known as the place where ‘Exmoor meets the sea’.

The dramatic countryside combines deep wooded river valleys, wild moorland and a magnificent coastline of hog-backed cliffs. Exmoor is home to a wealth of wildlife including red-deer, ponies, buzzards, trout and salmon. There are even wild goats in the Valley of the Rocks.

As well as walking and sightseeing on Exmoor you can go horse riding, mountain biking, fishing, sailing and bird watching. Lorna Doone country is close to Lynton and slightly further afield there are historic houses, picturesque villages, gardens, golf courses and sandy beaches. Lynton is a friendly village with tea-rooms, restaurants, pubs, churches, shops and a museum. The famous cliff railway links the two villages of Lynton and Lynmouth and is a novel way of getting from one to the other.

Exmoor has 680 miles of footpaths and bridleways and offers superb walking from gentle strolls to strenuous hikes. Many of these walks are accessible by foot from this hotel. The Valley of the Rocks, Watersmeet and Countisbury Hill are all within walking distance.

B&B Location

By road
From Lynmouth take the road up the hill signposted 'alternative route to Lynton for light cars'. After a short time you will come to a junction (where you have the right of way) and the road doubles back to Lynton. At this point carry straight on passing the Lynbridge sign. Woodlands is situated about a quarter of a mile along on the right hand side.

From Barbrook, take the B3234 towards Lynton/Lynmouth. After about half a mile the road forks, take the right hand fork signposted Lynmouth. Pass the Bridge Inn on your right and very soon you will come to Woodlands.

Nearest Railway Station: Barnstaple  (14  Miles)
