Bed and Breakfast Description

Welcome to Carter's Cottage, where we provide a comfortably furnished twin bedded room, with tea and coffee making facilities, and a single room available with tea and coffee making facilities. Bathroom with bath/power shower and bidet. Flagstoned Sitting/Dining Room with comfortable seating.

Carter’s Cottage, 16 Silver street is one of a group of four Victorian cottages, built of a rich local red brick. The Cottage underwent complete and thoughtful renovation in 2006; the original flagstone floor, and other Victorian features have been retained. Silver Street is in the heart of the town; because it is pedestrianised at one end there is little passing traffic.

For the comfort of my non-smoking guests, there is a no-smoking ‘policy’ within the house, however you are very welcome to smoke in the garden, where there is plenty of seating. I also have a friendly little dog called Maisie.

Glastonbury Attractions

Glastonbury is the venue for many workshops, courses and conferences, and has a number of Pubs and good places to eat. The Glastonbury Abbey ruins and the Chalice Well Gardens, are both within very easy walking distance from No.16, as is The Tor.

Glastonbury and the Somerset Levels attract a large number of visitors. Westhay Nature reserve is an SSSI site, with bird-watching hides, and is about a 10 minute drive away. The Levels themselves attract watercolourists, artists and photographers, and the Mendip Hills are good for Walkers and Cavers (about 15 minutes away by car).

If you are staying a little longer, Glastonbury is a good base from which to visit various other attractions in the locality: Wookey Hole caves are about a 15 minutes drive away,Montacute House about 40 minutes, and the little City of Wells, with its Cathedral is about 10 minutes drive. The bus services to Bristol and Bath run hourly. Stonehenge, Avebury and Bath are within easy day-tripping distance.
