Bed and Breakfast Description

 

A Somerset cream tea awaits your arrival and the following morning enjoy a scrumptious farmhouse breakfast complete with our freshly laid free range eggs. Each of our 2 cottages has its own kitchen and sitting room with access to a large garden. These facilities make our B&B quite unique with all the comforts of a serviced room and breakfast, with the added convenience of self catering facilities to use at your leisure.

Guests staying in Town End Farm cottages can enjoy full use of a large games barn with pool table, table tennis, darts and table football. Each cottage has access to a large garden with furniture. We keep a small selection of outdoor play equipment for young children. Transportation for the setting down and collection of guests and their bikes can be arranged. The properties have adjacent paddocks and stabling for anyone who wants to bring horses.

 

Taunton Attractions

 
Town End Farm and cottages are situated on the edge of the ancient village of Crowcombe in the heart of the Quantock Hills, the first area in Britain designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is a footpath directly opposite the farm entrance which leads right up to the top of the hills and across the surrounding countryside which has changed very little from the days when it inspired the romantic poets Coleridge and Wordsworth. Just a few minutes walk will take you into the heart of the village, where you will find the village church, shop with Post Office and also the excellent pub, The Carew Arms.

The Quantock Hills attract walkers, cyclists, horse riders and people simply admiring nature, from far and wide and although one of the smallest range of hills in the country, the Quantocks are considered to be one of the finest. There are frequent sightings of red deer and wild ponies grazing amongst the heather and bracken, and the sight of sound of buzzards as they circle through the thermals overhead. There are many delightful places to picnic and enjoy the views. Come simply to enjoy the peace, the heather-clad moors, deep valleys, and sparkling brooks. You can pop in to one of the pretty villages dotted around the hills, where you can take a break for a warming pub roast or a scrumptious afternoon cream tea.
