Bed and Breakfast Description

 

The House sits well back among large private gardens, popular with local deer, which are surrounded by mature forest. There is ample private parking for our guests as well as a large secure bothy providing dry storage for bicycles / sports equipment. Guests have their own sitting room where they can relax in comfortable seating, listen to a selection of music or read from our extensive library while enjoying a complementary wee dram of whisky. We also have a wide variety of board games and a selection of tourist information and maps to assist in planning your well earned holiday. Detailed information and advice on climbing and walking in the area can be provided. Packed lunches can be provided for walkers on request.

The accommodation consists of two comfortable double rooms with en suite showers and lovely loch views; one with a large bathroom and the other with a small bathroom. There is also a twin room with private bathroom ( with a bath / shower).

Breakfast is served at your own table in the Dining Room. Dinner (choose from a two or three course meal) can be provided on request at the time of booking.

Arrochar is only 5 minutes from beautiful Loch Lomond and 50 minutes from Glasgow Airport while Edinburgh, Glasgow, the Highlands and Western Inner Hebridean Islands are all within easy reach. Arrochar is in the heart of Scotland’s first National Park with ample visitor opportunities for sightseeing, sports and recreation. Ashfield House is an ideal base for many outdoor activities which include cruise trips, golf, fishing, canoeing, mountain biking and particularly all levels of hill walking / climbing.

We have a long history of receiving guests from all over the world and particularly from Europe as we speak French and Spanish.

Unfortunately we do not cater for children under10 years old

 

Arrochar Attractions

 
Situated in the Argyll Forest, Ashfield House is an ideal base for the many outdoor activities. Enjoy loch cruises /water sports on Loch Lomond or choose from Golf, Fishing (sea and course), Canoeing, Scuba Diving, Mountain Biking and particularly all levels of Hill Walking / Climbing. Or simply choose to relax and soak up the magnificent views and fresh air.

Walking / Hiking; Scotland’s most famous long distance hiking trail ‘The West Highland Way’, passes on the east side of Loch Lomond and part of the trail can be tackled on a day trip from Ashfield House – you can even take a dip in the loch as part of your hike!

There are abundant opportunities for walking at all levels, from short forest trails to a variety of ‘Munros’ (you can even start climbing a Munro within a 5 minutes walk from Ashfield House) in the Arrochar Alps and Crianlarich Hills.

Cycling; If mountain biking is your forte, we have some wonderful forest trails close by. We are also 5 minutes away from the Loch Lomond Cycle Route (50 mile round trip for the adventurous) which, with both historic and picturesque stops along the way, provides an easy day out for all the family. You can also join the National Cycle Network and explore the rest of Scotland’s cycle paths.

Touring; The West Highland rail line stops at Arrochar and Tarbet station and guests can take a memorable ride through the glorious Highland scenery to Fort William, Oban or Malaig. We are also within comfortable driving distance of a range of tourist attractions, whatever the weather.

By Road From Glasgow, Edinburgh and the South follow the M8 through Glasgow. If you are arriving at Glasgow Airport join the M8 going west. If you are arriving at Prestwick Airport take the A77 North, onto the M77 and then the M8 west. Then go onto the M898 over the Erskine Bridge and follow the A82 north ( to Crianlarich) and up the west side of Loch Lomond. At the Tarbet Hotel continue straight ahead on the A83 for 1.5 miles into Arrochar and Ashfield House is on the right hand side of the A83, just after the Loch Long Hotel.

By Train Take the West Highland line from / via Glasgow Queen Street. Alight at Arrochar and and Tarbet station and turn right following the road for 1 mile into the village. Ashfield House is on the right hand side of the A83, just after the Loch Long Hotel.
