Bed and Breakfast Description

 

This award winning guesthouse is on the site of the side gate to Round Wood, Lord Nelson’s ‘dream cottage’ which he bought in 1797. Sally and Richard extend a very warm welcome and an assurance that nothing is too much trouble for their guests.

All bedrooms have an en-suite high pressure shower, hairdryer, complementary toiletries and refreshments and a flat screen television with Freeview. Breakfast includes fresh fruit salad, free range eggs and a locally sourced range of bacon and sausages. There is free wireless internet connectivity throughout and daily newspapers, magazines and books available in the guest lounge.

 

Ipswich Attractions

 
East Anglia has a wealth of attractions to satisfy all interests. Constable Country is just a stone’s throw away, as is the only museum in the UK dedicated to the men and women in the Second World War resistance network.

As experienced event managers, we can organise bespoke Blue Badge guided tours, golfing breaks, river cruises and barge trips – in fact anything that makes your stay more memorable.

Taxi ~ Ipswich railway station is a five to ten minute taxi ride away.

Bus ~ The Route 66 bus leaves from Ipswich railway station every fifteen minutes and travels out of Ipswich via the Woodbridge Road. Ask the bus driver to drop you off at the nearest stop to Sidegate Lane you will see a set of traffic lights ahead of you when you get off the bus and if you walk up to them, Sidegate Lane is to your left. We are about a five minute walk up Sidegate Lane on the left, just after a zebra crossing, with a ‘pub’ sign clearly visible outside the guesthouse.

Car ~ From the A14 Take the first exit off to Ipswich and follow Bury Road and then Norwich Road in towards the Town Centre. After approx 2 miles turn left at a double roundabout on to Valley Road then follow the directions from the double roundabout below.

From the A12 ~ On the outskirts of Ipswich there is an interchange roundabout with the A14 (you will see a large Toys R Us store on the other side of the roundabout). Go straight over and follow the road into Ipswich. After approx 2 miles you will arrive at a traffic light junction at the bottom of a long downhill section. Go straight over these lights, passing a Sainsbury’s petrol station on your left and keeping in the left hand lane until you reach the second traffic light junction about 200 yards further on. Turn left here into Yarmouth Road. Keep going straight on this road - over all the numerous lights and roundabouts - including a double roundabout you have to cross) for about two and a half miles until you pass the cemetery on your right and go over a small railway bridge. About 400-500 yards after that bridge you will see the Fire Station on your left, next to the Royal George Pub and a roundabout.

Turn right at that roundabout and Sidegate Guest House is a few hundred yards further on the right, just after the zebra crossing.
