Bed and Breakfast Description

 

The Sorrel Horse is located just outside the village of Barham in the Heart of Suffolk just 5 miles from the centre of Ipswich. Breda, Matthew and Philip welcome all to the Sorrel Horse. As a family we have run this pub for over 20 years. We have continually developed and increased trade through the addition of a children's play area's, accommodation, smoking area, marquee, well maintained gardens and of course the traditional home cooked pub food.

In 1997 we converted a run down barn/coach house into an 8 bedroom accommodation block. Downstairs has four ensuite bedrooms including a room for the disabled. It is tastefully decorated with exposed beams. Upstairs consists of four further bedrooms 2 of which are ensuite. All rooms have drink making facilities and freeview television.

At the Sorrel Horse we have two more formal eating areas holding 40 people we also have bar tables opposite the open fire place where you are welcome to eat also. We also have a fabulous new lit and heated smoking area seating approximately 30. Also outside we have a further 140 seats in our large well maintained gardens, and to keep the children busy we have a large play area. At the rear or the garden area, we have a large lawned area where a large marquee can be sited. We often have wedding's and charity summer balls held here where we can provide the bar facilities.

The county of Suffolk is blessed with stunning coastline and beautiful English countryside. With seaside resorts, charming villages and bustling town centres, there are countless days out to suit all tastes.
 

B&B Location
 
The Sorrel Horse is situated 5 miles from the centre of Ipswich and 9 Miles from the centre of Stowmarket. With very good access to the A14 and the A12. Ipswich or Stowmarket train stations are 15 minutes drive, both with good access to London.

Head west on A1156/Crown St toward Tower St
Continue to follow A1156
Go through 1 roundabout 0.6 mi
Slight left at B1067 2.0 mi
Turn right at Paper Mill Ln 1.9 mi
At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit 0.3 mi
Slight left at Old Ipswich Rd 0.1 mi
Continue on Norwich Rd
Destination will be on the left 1.1 mi
