Bed and Breakfast Description |
| |
|
We have 10 en suite bedrooms, all individually decorated. One room is adapted for wheelchair use, and we also have a family room that includes bunk beds in a separate area to the main bedroom. Extra beds and cots are available on request. One of the downstairs bedrooms is adapted for wheelchair access, and we also have a family bedroom with a separate sleeping area for children. All of the bedrooms have TV, hairdryer and coffee and tea making facilities, and internet access.
Breakfast is served in the light and airy dining room from 7.00am weekdays and from 7.30am at weekends. The restaurant is open every evening except for Sundays from 6.30pm - 8.30pm. Meals can be arranged outside these times by prior arrangement. We have a licensed bar and a comfortable lounge where guests can enjoy a pre dinner drink or an after dinner coffee and brandy. There is a pleasant garden at the rear of Grove House. Why not have afternoon tea in the garden - weather permitting of course! |

Woodbridge Attractions |
| |
For the more young at heart, why not try Beacon Rally Karts, Kingpin bowling centre or Pleasurewood Hills theme park. Woodbridge has it's own sailing club (Woodbridge Yacht Harbour) on the River Deben. There are a number of golf courses locally, Woodbridge Golf Club, Seckford Golf Club and Waldringfield Golf Club to name but a few. The local disused airbase often holds both car and motor bike rallys. We have ample parking for those who want to take part in the events. Foxhall Road is famous for Banger Racing etc, and people travel from miles away, both to take part and to watch. In Ipswich you will find a Tennis and Squash Club where non members are welcome. We are also situated on a popular cycling route, and can easily house cycles in a locked garage for those who are travelling on two wheels.
There are so many interesting places to visit in this area. Woodbridge itself is steeped in history. Why not visit the Tide Mill on the River Deben, or Buttrum's Mill - considered to be one of England's finest tower windmills. Sutton Hoo is just down the road and is a famous archaeological site. Just outside Woodbridge is Bentwaters - a disused American Air Base housing a Cold War Mueseum, or why not visit Bawdsey Radar Station just across the river - famous for the birth of 'radar'. Felixstowe Landguard Fort was built by Henry VIII, and is definitely worth a visit.
Framlingham and Orford are both proud of their castles, and both attract thousands of visitors throughout the year. Snape Maltings is famous for it's links with Benjamin Brittain. During the day you can wander round the shops and galleries, and in the evening attend a music or dance show. In Ipswich you can visit the Christchurch Mansion - a delightful Tudor mansion - wander through the rooms, and admire the famous paintings by Gainsborough and Constable. It is situated in Christchurch Park, a lovely place to feed the ducks, and for the children to have a run around. |

B&B Location
|
| |
From the North - A12: Follow the signs towards Woodbridge. The road turns into a dual carriageway near Wickham Market, and then returns to a wide single road. At the next roundabout, do not turn left, but keep on the A12. Once again this is a dual carriageway with a 40 mile per hour speed limit. You will pass a Shell petrol station on the left. At the next roundabout, go completely round the roundabout and come back on yourself. Once again you will pass another Shell petrol station. Grove House Hotel is the large terracotta building on the left, 200yds past the Shell garage, and set back off the road in a lay by.
From the South – A12: Follow the signs to the A12, Lowestoft. The road is dual carriage way. When you reach a roundabout at the bottom of a hill with only two exits (one to Lowestoft and one to Woodbridge Town Centre), take the first turning towards Lowestoft and remain on the A12. The dual carriageway continues for another mile and then returns to a single carriageway. At the next roundabout (Wyevale Nursery on the left), continue straight over. Continue past the Shell petrol station on your left, and you will find Grove House Hotel 200yds further on. It is a large terracotta building set back off the road in a lay by.
