Bed and Breakfast Description |
| |
|
The Station House is a small, family-run bed & breakfast located in the heart of beautiful Norfolk, just three miles from the Norfolk Broads National Park, where you can always be sure of quality accommodation and a warm welcome. Set in the country village of Lingwood in a unique, restored Victorian Railway station dating back to 1882, we are only fifteen minutes from the center of Norwich and Great Yarmouth, or twelve minutes on the train. The building was built in 1882 by the Great Eastern Railway. Today it houses our three comfortable guest bedrooms. We offer quality en-suite accommodation in a unique setting, with a personal and friendly service.
Station House has three guest bedrooms; two doubles and one twin. One double has en-suite, whilst the other two rooms share an adjacent bathroom. We can provide a family room by adding a further single bed or cot. We welcome well-behaved children and dogs, at a nominal charge. All rooms are tastefully decorated in a light modern style with quality fittings and paintings, and have colour television, hot beverage making facilities, electric sockets, double/triple glazing, central heating (with individual thermostats), chest of drawers, wardrobe (with hangers) etc. Some of our rooms are less suited to those who suffer with mobility problems.
We have car parking covered by CCTV (at owners own risk) outside for approximately ten cars. If you intend to take advantage of the Norfolk Broads and will be bringing your own boat we can store your trailer for no extra charge (note that the nearest slipway is only five minutes away). Station House is no smoking throughout, although guests are welcome to smoke in our picturesque garden. We are happy to cater for special diets, but please notify us in good time if you have specific requirements. Whilst we are not a licensed premise, guests are more than welcome to bring their own beverages, for which we can provide glasses, ice etc for no extra charge. |

Norwich Attractions |
| |
The village of Lingwood is approximately 10 miles, or half way, between Norwich and Great Yarmouth. It is large village, with Post-office, several pubs serving food, a fish and chip shop and a Spar shop. The village is about a mile from the A47 so benefits from excellent road and rail links. Within six miles of Lingwood is a horse riding center, a dry ski slope, a petting zoo, a water sports center, an RSPB reserve, and many other attractions. Being in the heart of the Norfolk Broads we are surround by boating. There are numerous places to hire boats of all sizes within twenty minutes of us, allowing you to explore the Broads (large, man-made lakes) at your own pace. Alternatively you can hop on-board one of the many river buses or tour boats that run from various points nearby.
We also cater very well for the rail enthusiast. Obviously our proximity to the historic Wherry Line is a major attraction with its traditional signaling and original station buildings. We are within an hour of six privately owned steam railways, including a 9 mile narrow gauge steam railway, and two historic railways; the North Norfolk "Poppy Line" railway (steam railway of the year 05) and the Mid Norfolk Railway - one of the longest stretches of private railway in the country.
Great Yarmouth is a traditional seaside town. Most of its attractions can be found on the "Golden Mile" on the sea front. Boasting a Pleasure Beach, hundreds of restaurants, arcades, and of course miles of beautiful award winning sandy beaches, Great Yarmouth is ideal for a family day out to the seaside. Cambridge is also easily accessible for a day out. Only an hour's train journey from Norwich, it boasts some of the most historic buildings in the world, as well as one of the world's most famous universities. What ever your tastes, there is sure to be something for you near Lingwood. This is what makes Norfolk one of the most popular British holiday destinations. |
