Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Old Hall Lodge lies up a sleepy country lane & is surrounded by farmland. You are more likely to encounter deer, hares & rabbits than people. The guest rooms are all at ground level. They are furnished with care & to a high standard. The bedroom suites each have ensuite bathroom & separate dressing room. The beds are either superking, king or twin and of high quality. Each bedroom has a comfortable seating area.Also large colour TV with Freeview, tea/coffee & mineral waters, hairdryer, trouser press and fridge.

Across the Courtyard is our large Garden Room which is for guests use. It is comfortably furnished with lovely views over our gardens & farmland. Breakfast is served in this room except in winter, when our formal dining room is used. Guests are welcome to use our gardens and courtyard. There is plenty of seating in sun, shade or by our fountains and pond.

 

Dereham Attractions

 
We are centrally located for touring the unspoilt East Anglian counties of Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, with first class road links to all parts of the country. The ancient market town of East Dereham is 2 miles away, with a good selection of shops, banks, pubs and restaurants. There are also many good pubs and restaurants in the surrounding villages.

The capital of East Anglia with many shops, restaurants, cathedral, museum, galleries and theatre. Sandringham, the Royal family's private estate, including the house, beautiful gardens, museum and church. Holkham Hall, a magnificent Palladian hall and estate owned and lived in by the Earl of Leicester. Houghton Hall, built for Lord Wallpole, the first Prime Minister it has an interesting past and present! Blickling, a Jacobean masterpiece. Oxburgh Hall, famous moated manor house built in 1482 by the Bedingfield family who still live there.

Norfolk Broads, a giant lake and river system creating a boaters paradise. Boats can be hired for the day or you can join one of the many pleasure cruises, where someone else does the navigating. The North Norfolk Heritage Coast is 30 minutes away. Cromer, still has an end-of-the-pier show and justly famous for its crab and other seafood. Sherringham, a traditional unspoilt English seaside resort and home of the North Norfolk Steam Railway. Wells-Next-The-Sea, the in place! An interesting little town with a good mix of shops and tempting fresh fish and chips. Holkham Bay, the magnificent beach which stretches for 7 miles from Wells to Brancaster. Backed by sand dunes, woods and a nature reserve with an official naturalist beach for those who forget to bring their bathing costumes! Blakeney, pickup a boat trip to go out to Bakeney Point and view the local seal colony.

From London and the south: M11/A11 to Barton Mills roundabout then A1065 to Swaffham. At Swaffham Town Centre just after the pedestrian crossing lights bear right at mini roundabout. At the traffic lights turn right & follow Norwich Road for about 1.5 miles to roundabout. Take 3rd exit (A47) Norwich.

From Midlands and the north: A1 to Peterborough or A14 / A605 to Peterborough. The A47 towards Norwich.

All routes from A47 (Swaffam): Follow A47 towards Norwich, passing Necton and Little Fransham. You will then come to a series of "Dual Carriageway Ahead" signs. At the 1 MILE sign turn right into Fen Road. Then left and right again into The Broadway sign posted to Daffy Green. Old Hall Lodge is a mile up on the left after Broadway Farm and Old Hall Farm.
